this will ben easiest task, a good starting point to start tracing art.
check the vector tutorial.

you can find the tutorial at the arcade art library or check almost any other post asking for vectorizing...most of the time they will post the link for you, but i think zorg is getting tired of linking. good luck, but it looks easy. just amke sure to find the biggest picture you can get of it to vectorize.

You can find free, basic programs online to automatically vectorize simple raster images. The more complicated the image, the less effective it is. However, the logo you speak of isn't complicated. You can probably find something for free (or at least free trial) at download.com.

I really like what you've done conseit68 but I want to fill in the areas around the letters with white but the magic wand doesn't seem to do anything and I don't know anything much about illustrator
how do I select that area and fill it in?

With the regular cursor (hit V) you can select an area if you have the proper layer selected. Then you can set the fill color and stroke color using the box on the left side of the screen at the bottom of the toolbox.

yeah...what he said...that whole image is one layer being with its simplicity.
