I have used the calibration button a 1000 times and it still shoots 1 in to the left. Is it possible to open it up and move the sensor over a bit? I have the PC version.
Thanks,

Are you by chance standing a little to the left of the TV? I found it calibrates best when you stand directly in front of the TV and slightly angle the gun as you are sweeping left to right, to simulate the angle you would actually be firing with from further back.
-
Nope, I'm in the middle and calibrating as if I was playing the game...

Point 1 inch to the right when you calibrate.

Is your screen filling the screen while playing the game, or is it in a ways?
Does the calibration screen fill the screen properly?
Is it doing this on ALL games, or just one in particular?
How accurate is it on the Windows desktop?
-
pointing in a different direction wont help.
when you turn it on calibration... and the screen blanks white... It then reads everything and it tries to find the ranges it can read. And assumes all the rest fills in nicely.
So you up/down (its trying to find the lowest / highest points it can read). And the same left and right....
Standing in the place you plan to play helps... But twisting the gun wont.
You can open it up and adjust. But it will be off warranty and I'm not sure if you would be able to get it much better. I opened mine to hack it into a real arcade gun... Never finished the job... and put it back together (pissed I did... otherwise it would have been WAY sold on ebay when the prices hit 200)

hey so the act-labs guns can be used in windows like a mouse pointer then?
-
Yes.
They act just like a mouse.
It's a little tough to hit EXACTLY where you want to with them though.
-
Yes, the calibration screen and the game screen is the same size. Still no luck. I am going to try it in Windows (maybe on a word doc) to see how accurate it is. Maybe i need to calibrate it inside the game as well...

You don't want to calibrate it in Word.
Just shoot icons on the desktop, and see how accurately it hits them.
Don't "double-shoot" them though, or you'll launch them.
Are you having problems in ALL games, or just a certain one?
-
I meant that I am going to test the accuracy by shooting within a word doc. Then, I was going to check specific game calibrations through their own diagnostics mode. Yes, all games currently shoot an inch to the left.

Have you tried using a different resolution on MAME, to see if that makes a difference?
If you shoot way to the left, does the crosshair wrap around to the right side of the screen?
-
Yes, some resolutions work better than others, but they are all still off. The cursor did not wrap around to the other side. I tried calibrating within the game itself and that didn't work. I tried the accuracy by using a word doc. That just proved that it isn't a Mame issue. I actually tried moving the sensor inside the gun itself, but that didn't work either. I have no clue and it isn't accurate enough to play games. Any more suggestions that I could test....

If everything is off like that my guess is that the optics are not lined up properly.
That may be the reason that Act-Labs had so many returns on them, and was selling all the refurbs.
I can't think of anything else that will help, other than playing with the stuff inside, and seeing if you can get it to work properly.
-
The funny part about it is that I did move the sensor around and nothing changed after I calibrated it. I am wondering if it has to do with the lens on the front of the gun...

Possibly.
I KNOW that will affect a scope drastically; so I would assume the same for a lightgun.
It can't hurt to play with it at this point.

I was usingmine on a regular tubed TV (an old 20" RCA) and it worked grat...when I moved it to my 27" Wega flat screen, it would calibrate...the shot was a couple of inches to the right and up slightly...it still works great on my 20"...can you try it on a different TV...
