Title: Has anyone tried floorstanding speakers instead of cabinet speakers?

Just curious to know if anyone has tried using floorstanding tower speakers (on either side of the cabinet) instead of cabinet speakers with their upright cabinet.

Well "just not right" is highly subjective but that's what I'm using and judging from my initial hardware tests it sounds just fine for games and WAY better for music. My speakers are stand mounted btw, not floorstanding.
