I placed an order with them (WICO) a few weeks ago. Didn't receive anything. So i emailed them concerning my order status, no reply. So i called them and they found my order, told me the merchandise was on back order and they should be receiving in this week and then they would send it out.
When i phoned in my order originally, they said they'd box it up and send it the same day....turns out they didn't even have it when i called. I don't see anywhere on their website where you can track your order or anything like the other places do. So i'm just a little worried now. I'm still giving them the benefit of the doubt, hopefully i'll get my stuff soon. It just kind of ticks me off that they didn't bother to tell me my order wasn't in stock because then i could have ordered it from somewhere else and had it in my hands already.
How has other people's experiences been with this company?
-
If you search around the board your read about similar problems when ordering from WICO.
-
So do people eventually get their stuff, or should i just cancel my order? They have my CC# now, so i hate to cancel my order, order from someone else, and then have WICO charge my account anyway saying it was already pending.
-
I would just cancel the order and send them an email telling them their customer service is horrible. If they do turn around and ding you call the credit card company and get the charges revoked. Normally i wouldn't offer this advice but i've never heard of ANYONE ordering from wico and getting a timely and responsible reply. My thoughts are if they can't meet the small customers demands--don't sell to the small customer.

I ordered a catalogue from them about six or eight weeks ago, and it hasn't come yet. :|

I'm in that boat, as well. For me, they might as well not exist. Now if the hardcore collectors on this board would just stop raving about how great they are. :)

My order from them took nearly two months to get to me. On top of that I had to 1) Fax the order 2) Call and remind them that I had faxed it 3) Fax it again, because they couldn't find the original order
I called twice during my waiting period and the second time they told me that they were waiting for all of my parts to arrive, but they would not give me a timetable.
It was not my favorite experience. But, it was the only place to get the speaker grill that I needed and the least expensive place to get the leaf switch buttons that I wanted.
Basically, if you're okay with a long wait, then go for it. Otherwise, buyer beware!

Too bad you didn't search this board first 2Pacman. You'd know the horror story that is Wico. Wico of today is not the Wico of the 80's. Same name, different staff/management. They are a dinosaur waiting for extinction.

I can tell you from past experience the you can sleep soundly knowing that your catalog is *NOT* on its way and probably never will be. Wico customer service is pathetic and it amazes me that they're still in business. From what I hear the actual catalog is just as worthless as their online catalog so you really won't be missing out on much when your catalog *doesn't* arrive. :D If you do end up receiving it ,consider yourself one of the lucky few.
-
I called and asked for their catalog to hopefully see some of their pictures better. You know what the "catalog" is? It's their website, archived onto CD. There's both a PDF version and the HTML version. The worst part? The whole thing for both is like 30M total, right? So what do they do? Make a special installer to put it on your hard drive. Now, 30M is no big deal, but it would have been far easier to just be able to browse the CD itself. No, they decided to use a proprietary installer. Stupid.

Wico's service is comical. They defy all odds to screw up 100% of all orders. I'm not sure if Wico employees are addicted to cough syrup or just disgruntled, but they make the government look efficient. Trained chimpanzees could do a better job running a company.

I emailed them requesting a new catalog and was told they were out with no ETA on getting anymore in stock. The online catalog is the same as it has been for years though. Just an updated price sheet. In moving mine is in a box somewhere...will probably run into it eventually.

I ordered from them a couple of years ago on the phone. The guy asked if it would be OK to ship multiple shipments. I said "not if it means I'll pay more postage". He said that is what it means. I said "no".
Awhile later I received shipment one. Called and asked why my shipments were broken up when I said I didn't want it done that way. Was told they wouldn't charge for shipping on the next shipment.
Weeks later shipment two arrived with a shipping charge charged to my credit card. Called and was told I had to speak with the gentleman that took my order.
He said I was asked at order time if split shipments was OK and I said "yes". We argued a long time. Eventually I got tired of it and demanded a refund for the shipping. He kept saying "no" and I said "I demand it" and if you don't I'm disputing it with my credit card company. He said "OK" and hung up.
Weeks later no refund. Called back and asked for the status. Was told it was in the works. No ETA.
Weeks later called again. Was told it should have been refunded but it was apparently lost. Would be taken care of.
Eventually got the refund.
Gee...I was thinking of order from them again...this reminded me how aweful the first experience was...I better kick myself for thinking about it...

Just as a contrast, I had no problems with my Wico order (16 leaf switch buttons). However, I had done my searches beforehand and accepted that I might not get what I expected, or anything at all. Thus I limited my exposure and only ordered what I couldn't get elsewhere for a similar price.

wico sucks, don't do it for any reason - ever!
get in touch with ponyboy from the boards here he will get you anything you need

Wow, this company sounds horrible. Has anyone looked at what the BBB has to say about them?
-
That's just what i ordered. Leaf switches and the button assembly. I only did cause that's the only place that had them for a decent price, very few places have these to begin with and Bob Roberts is more expensive in this instance. Well, i'm not going to wait around for months, i'll give them another week or so, then i'm cancelling my order...maybe i'll be one of the few lucky ones that get the shipment. Seems like people do get their merchandise eventually and the main gripe here is that they don't send them a catalog.
It amazes me how many websites sell leaf style buttons, but hardly any sell the switches. What good are they without the switches?
-
The problem with WICO is more than just slow shipping or not getting catalogs.
Do a search.
-
Guess I'm just lucky but I've had 3 flawless orders make it to me...in Canada.
