Title: Question : Sega megalo monitors/cabs with j-pac
Post by: Pod on May 05, 2002, 06:46:46 am
Hello,

Having already converted a Electrocoin xenon I'm now looking forward to something bigger and better.

But I'm no expert. I've simply followed the instructions on this site. For that reason I have no idea about these huge cabinets.

Do they work in roughly the same way? Can the monitor be wired up like a normal arcade monitor with a j-pac?

Any info much appreciated.

You might want to supply a Megalo model number to get a meaningful response.  Knowing the model number would allow a reader to check the RES of the monitor and other details of a jpac to megalo application.

Ok I'll just pick the Megalo410 for an example.  All of the megalos are jamma or jamma+.   The 410 has a 41 inch display WOW and supports 15K/24K and 31K so it would support regular arcade 15K input as well as med res and 31K should be enough for windows.  It would be a beautiful mame machine.

You would probabaly not be able to use the jpac at anything other than 15K as that is what it was designed for.  It protects monitors from receiving the higher freq signals that can cause damage to a regular 15K arcade monitor.

Best of luck.
