Well.. not really. But recently I've had terrible luck on eBay.
My last 3 transactions:
1) My sister had a fried xbox motherboard, so I went on eBay to get a replacement. I ended up paying $60 for someones failed modchip attempt (which was advertised as "100% working v1.3 xbox motherboard." The board was burned, some resistors literally melted off, and the board didn't boot at all; not even a FRAG. PayPal for some reason closed my dispute against the seller because I received a package (they didn't care that it wasn't as described). Basically I'm out $60. (Note: This persons feedback was 100%).
2) After beinng frusterated about the motherboard ordeal, I saw "brand new" xboxes for really cheap. The guy was selling like 50 at once (all ended within 5 minutes of eachother) so I thought I could get a great deal for a replacement Xbox. I won one for just over $100 (not bad for a new xbox!). This person was kicked off eBay 3 days later, and he hasn't reponded to my emails for a week. He is currently being flooded with negative feedback, so things don't look good. My PayPal dispute is "pending." (Note: This persons feedback was 95%.)
3) I needed a large Compact Flash drive for my digital camera, and i saw a 5GB disk for $150. It was more than I was wanting to spend, but 5GB beats the cheap 1GBs I was looking for, for only a little more. It was Buy-It-Now and a deal I couldn't pass up! The auction noted that even though this card was pulled out of a Rio MP3 player, it was compatible with Digital Cameras as long as they can support the capacity. What a crock that was. After I received it, I discovered the newer Rio's have crippled CF's that can only be read by computers and the Rio player itself. I have 2 different cameras, and a friends too, and it wasn't compatible with any of them. I'm now stuck with a $150 external hard drive. (Note: This guys feedback ratings were something like 99%).
I'm now flat broke and don't have a thing to show for it :(

My Pc sees a CF card as a extra drive.
5 gig :o
wow I did not know they went so large. wonder if you can toss windows on it and boot from it ???
I fell for you on the X box.
5 gig CF .... I think would play with it.
I know you bought it for a camera. You did get hosed. >:(
5 gigs is a large CF. Wish gameboy adv could use CF ;D
MP3S with no skip ;)
you really must have one bad ars camera to be able to use that.
sorry to go on about it but ...man i am freaking out here. A 5 gig CF
If I was not broke right now I would give you your money back. and buy it off you.
put it on buy/sell/trade (the cf)
-
Thats not a bad idea. I'm not *as* pissed about the CF because it does have some resell value (it works as an external hard drive if you have a memory card reader).

I could toss in my favorite movie. tuck it in my shirt pocket and off to the lake.

Never buy anything having anything to do with an X-Box, Playstation, etc on ebay. It is scammer central.
That is where you get sellers like this
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=tar671
Still having power seller status despite the fact that their feedback for the last month was 109 positive, 23 neutral and 43 negative.
That section of ebay is where you constantly get brand new zero feedback sellers showing up with mad professional auction listings and $25,000 worth of consoles listed. They almost always just concentrate on the big two scammers favorites, PS2 and X-Box, never touching Gamecube much, cause children don't have money and moms don't buy christmas presents on ebay.
-
I've noticed that the feedback is private too.... a BIG flag right there....

Most of these are stollen identity issues... (They got suckered into giving away their eBay ID & password by forged emails)...
Then a scammer will reset email accounts & a paypal account to rake in the $$$ before they get caught. Then close the paypal account, close the actual back account & move on to the next... (Or they only accept other forms of payments).
Notice this seller was only selling flowers & things & then there's a rash of PS2s all posted on the same day??? BIG sign of a hijacked account.
Sorry bud. That sucks.

The last item i "won" on ebay i payed and got nothing, the guy had a decent record and feedback and all of a sudden he was gone. :'(
That was a long time ago and i cant bring myself to bid again.
-
Wow... I've gotten screwed twice on eBay... 1 seller was slow & vindictive (I left negative after 3 weeks of no contact from seller & he made up some excuse & never sent the item)... The other time, I just took a chance on a low feedback seller to get a dreamcast system & he crapped out on me. He was just a ---tallywhacker---... I've been meaning to try & look him up again to harrass him a little more...
I've had quite a few successful transactions since then however. It's just a matter of buying from people who typically sell that sort of item a lot. (At least that's one thing I look for).

Great news!
I sold the seagate CF drive.. well actually.. i traded it for something else -- but hey I'm happy.
And after complaining to PayPal 3 times this week, they said they would look into the Xbox scam again because apparently this guy did it to 50 other people. Guess who got their money back...? ;D
Now I just have to make this other seller feel bad because of the broken motherboard he shipped to me. I've sent quite a few emails to him and I think I've finally getting him to budge on a refund. I think I may up just shipping the b0rk board back to him and tell him where the send the refund :)
2 out of 3.. woohoo

Tell him that you will report him to Microsoft and the FBI for violations of the DMCA ;)
