Hi all
I'm making a rather odd cab, one which you can sit down at, with a wheel and pedals for driving games, or stand up at, with 2p joysticks and 8 buttons per player (and trackball).
Now, the thing is the monitor is set just right for driving game height when you are sitting down, but is therefore too low for when you are standing up at the joysticks. At the moment I tend to sit down at the joysticks, which are thus too high to be comfortable using!
So I was wondering, anyone got any bright ideas for making some kind of stand/shelf for the monitor that could easily be raised by 12 inches and lowered again when playing driving games?
One certainty is I can't lift the monitor easily by hand (it is a 19" PC monitor). And ideally I'd like the mechanism to work from the underside of the monitor, rather than having to attach some kind of framework to it. So imagine a flat surface, with a movable shelf on top that I want to raise up and down by 12 inches.
Sorry if this sounds a lot to ask!

I think what you want is to much. You need to put the monitor higer if you need to, then lowering down again needs to be movable up/down. If i were you, i leave it as it is, cause now that I had been playing with my cab standing up all the time, I wish I could sit down and play it instead. Just have a nice hieght for the control panel so when sitting down playing with the joysticks, it would also be confortable. Thats my 2c.

I have a monitor arm for the PC next to my bed. The arm swivels, extends, raises and lowers. I'm not sure it has 12" of vertical travel though. Its supposed to hold 60lbs which should be enough for a newer 19" monitor.
