I live way out in the sticks.
no phoneline (high speed)
no cable TV available
I have direct TV for Chanel's on TV
Direct way wants way to much for high speed.
hook up went down, was $500.00 ::)
down to $100 ( I think) and $100.00 a month
If I got my channels for the TV I would run with that but no TV channels are included.
any thing I can do?

I think you're screwed... unless you want to pay out the --I'm attempting to get by the auto-censor and should be beaten after I re-read the rules-- for D-WAY.

Try looking for a wireless connection. Some cities are starting to offer it. There are 2 people at my work that live in the sticks and one has it now and the other should have it in about a month or two. Check this site:
Listing of wireless by state. (http://www.onelasvegas.com/wireless/)
Maybe you will get lucky. Good luck.

not sure if this counts as wireless. I have a cell phone with a usb hook up.
On week ends I use it. ( free weekends ;D)
but that is not that much faster.
28 kbs now
weekends 128 kbs.
you would think it would be a big difference but I really can not tell any speed difference.

sounds like me, that's dish for you. Nothing much you can do except move (which is what I am doing :) )
Maybe you can get a whole bunch of people together to create a wide area Wifi connection to one person with a T1 :)

I can get like 112K on my sprint cell phone. I don't think they charge extra for those minutes.
I use it ALL the time. I go to get my car repaired, I sit there and work while they do it.
Be a nerd at the airport. Anywhere.

I have one guy that works for me that lives in rural area south of the Dallas/Ft Worth area.
The last few miles of his connection is wireless with a dish on the top of a pole next to his house which in turn links up to access point sitting on top of the water tower in what is downtown Glenrose. The install was about $200-300 with monthly access fee around $50 with connection speeds equatable to DSL or cable. He's been operating this way for a couple of years without issue.
We also setup a wireless link to his fathers house on the same acreage/property by mod'ing a couple of linksys access points with bigger dish attenna's so he could share the connection.
I also am involved in a project for a company which is focused on wireless in certain rural geographies that perhaps may be offering service in your neck of the woods.
What's your zipcode?

I'm in the same boat. I live way out in the boonies, no high speed available as far as I know, other than Direcway which is way too expensive. My zip code is 74066, I'd love for someone to prove me wrong.

I just got had a 3Mb/sec cable hooked up yesterday :P
I'll only pay about $10-$15 a month for it cos I'm sharing it with my neighbors and I got a killer deal for switching from satellite to cable.
Sorry about your situation, though. ;)

40342 ;)
thanks
How unrealistic is the thought of a 3 to 5 mile network?
father in law has high speed. a few miles away.

If your willing to try it out. I have sprint pcs with the vision service. I can get connections of around 177k on occasion. Best parts is that is does not count towards minutes since its the data servicenot the phone service.
Other providers like at&t and t-mobile have the same type of thing and with them you can use the bluetooth funtion for no wires.
