Didn't think that thing would last.

There goes the theory about a customer ordering that layout specifically.
Wait until the buyer actually tries to use that monstrosity.
-
LOL! Ok here is my guess. Custom-Arcades built this custom order for a customer. The customer see's a pic of it and says "what are you guys on crack!?" and bails. They are then left to sell it on ebay because nobody else wants it.
I bet it will be on ebay several times before they bring the reserve price down below $1000. It might be worth buying at that price (all you do is just cut/drill a new control panel layout).

nah.. he actually sells them at that price... did you go to his website? I like his countertop model.. and the cocktail... but would never pay those prices... the builder/seller frequents the A@H cabinet forum - grock or something is his handle if you had questions or... er.... comments =P
*shrug*

I think his standard schtick is that he says he builds each one custom. I'm sure he'll say thats not what you're getting you can request whatever you like.... Whatever, it still looks like crap imo. ......and bad pr for your company.
-
Even if you removed the control panel, that thing would NOT fit into any door at my house. I just built a 27" screen cab and it will barely fit through the back door. A 33" screen cab would probably be 35+ inches wide . I hope whoever buys it has a walkout basement or double entry front doors. One big beast!!
-
Hey Thorn hows your cab coming? You making progress?
-
That cab was sold and he just has the picture up for viewing purposes only. He has a $10,000 reserve price set for it because its really not for sale. At least not that particular cabinet anyway. He says he posted that auction for the sole purpose of drawing customers to his website.
Kinda sneeky if you ask me :P

Not terribly surprising.
-
No, I suppose not
-
well..i did that before..I put 1 joystick up for auction then ended up selling 4 at a time.OF course i got all the parts locally.Just walk in+pick up part and built.
Its a great idea because this custom arcade guy would end up selling more then 1 machine for sure.
-
I dunno how this guy is gonna make out, but a legit company that even includes 80+ games with thier machine, go out of business...now what the heck is that company name now...hhhmmmm......damm i am drawing blank, they just recently belly up about a month or so ago. Oh well I have forgotten them already...Wish the guy best of luck.
-
Guys got questionable business practices. Posting an auction for the purpose of selling items outside of the auction is against ebay rules... Now where did I leave that link to the form to report auction abuse?

If you ask me, this is pretty bad pr. The auction ended with a highest bid of $500. Now who in their right mind is going to go to his site and pay $4395 for his "gand daddy" model (which is the one in the auction was for). These people are just plain stupid IMHO.
-
They're not even the greatest cabinets..... 2 or 3 years ago they were good, but take a look at the best examples this site alone has displayed lately. It puts his monstrosities to shame.
I looked at one of the pics of the inside of a control panel.... around every single hole theres about a 2" radius of breakout.... sloppy sloppy.
-
the guy is really stupid as dave_k mentioned.
I mean c'mon already >:(.35" wide cabinet is pretty rough if i wanna buy one.I cant even fit something thats 27" so what makes him think people have big big door ways so they can get these pimp daddy cabinet..ERRR....gand daddy :P.

Plus.. is it just me, or do the two center joysticks look a little bit awkward.
I mean how many people have the joystick ABOVE the buttons? wouldn't that kind of get in the way of the arm you were using the joystick with?
Would be uncomfortable? heh :o
