Hello- New to the forums (please be gentle)....I need a coin door for my cab but have tight vertical clearances. Therefore, instead of an over/under I'm thinking of using a black defender style coin door like:
http://www.ysib.com/zoom/coindoor.html
It seems that neither Wico, Happs, Bob Roberts, or CoinopExpress sell these. I know that Happs sells a pinball one that's similar, but I don't want any sort of port for a bill validator, nor a separate door for the coin box (to keep the size down). Anyone know where I can get one of these new, or am I just a moron and not looking in the right place on the aforementioned sites? Thanks!

I think one of these was going on ebay with flames painted on it a while ago, could be wrong though, but still, search ebay.

Yeah, I've been looking on ebay for quite a while, but haven't seen this style new/NOS very often. There are plenty of Bally/Midway older style doors on ebay of similar size (i.e., with the metal coin reject buttons on them), but I was looking for the particular style that I linked to above. Any vendors that I'm not aware of that carry this?

You mentioned you didn't need a coinbox, but do you need any working coin mechs? If not, Happ makes a spiffy fake coin door in the size your looking for:

Happ has Over/Under mini-doors, like THIS (http://www.happcontrols.com/coindoors/40051400.htm).
They aren't going to take up much, if ANY, more interior room than a Defender door with a cashbox will.
The door will be a little taller on the outside though.
Other than that, you're pretty much stuck with ebay, as far as I know.

I have a couple of those doors ... sadly they're both installed in cabinets.
Both of mine came used on machinesI bought at auction ... the one that wasn't drilled through with security hasps cleaned up better than new with a couple of coats of textured spray paint. (The other one is gonna get junked at some point as it has too many holes in it to be worth patching).
Now, you mention the Happs doors, but say you don't want a bill acceptor ... how about:

I would recommend continuing to watch eBay or posting a WTB in B/S/T.
Cheers.

I got a coin door like this that had been cleaned & repainted (on Ebay). Just installed it in my machine last week and it works/looks great!

Hmm....pretty slick indeed, but yeah, I don't think I could live without working coin mechs.

Well, the plan was to actually forgoe a deep coin box and either cut one down to reduce it's vertical height below the mechs (my CP and front mounted foot pedals are what's eating up all the room).

Saw that one, but since my cab is only two player, I wouldn't wanna field all those "why is there four coin slots for a two player cab" questions.
Pretty sure that it is available in 2,3 or 4 slots ...
Cheers

I have one of those exact coin doors, that I stripped and repainted with rough texture paint, but now don't need. Will post a picture later.

Oh.....didn't see that in the description.

Is this what you are looking for?
His shipping is probably cheaper.
HAPP probably wants a $100.00 to ship it.

Those are the crappiest doors, or maybe it is just coincidence that every one I have ever had has been crappy.
If you want a square door I would suggest almost any other door out there over that one. I like Midway doors, stainless Williams' doors, and the old chinese square doors (used on Artic and other bootleg cabs, they are same size as midway, made better and had a nice juicy texture to them, and a huge coin return tray).

Is this what you had in mind?

I bought, stripped, primed and repainted this (OK, not as good as the original powder coat, but that had seen better days). I also replaced the lock, the red coin return buttons and one of the missing coin flaps. Then I picked up a couple cabinets cheap and decided to track down the appropriate doors for those cabs. Sigh.
This doesn't have the counter or those little magnetic coil dealies or a couple other things that nobody seems to worry about with MAME machines. The coin mechs can tell a quarter from other coins and coin like objects. If you'd like, I can do a continuity check on the coin switches.
Send me an e-mail and we can try to work out a deal.

Avery:
That's a Coinco door you have.
As to a two chute door, the Happ # 40-0375-00 or # 40-0055-00 should work.
