Title: KWDOS not recognising Keywiz
Post by: whatisk on May 01, 2005, 01:42:53 am
I have a Keywiz Max and am running Windows XP.
When trying to load a custom set through a command prompt and using kwdos, it comes up with an error saying that it can't locate the Keywiz (yes, the switch is set correctly). Yet, if I load in the GUI based program, it recognises it straight away.

Reason I was looking at using the dos loader is to have it load my custom set at boot up more transparently than having the GUI loader appear prior to the front end loading up (Mamewah) - as pretty as the laser eyes are during programming  ;)

There is also the chance that depending on the emulator, a different key set may need to also be loaded. So again, I was trying to find a way to load in the set without the GUI appearing.

Just wondering if anyone might know the reason why the jwdos can't locate the keywiz but the GUI uploader can?

Thanks.

Just a theory, but maybe if you're using XP, KWDOS won't work as it's a DOS app, and WinXP doesn't support native DOS.

I think RandyT posted a way to run the KeyWiz software in "Stealth Mode" (or at least minimized), but I'm not sure what to do.

Tiger Heli is right.  The KWDOS software is strictly for real DOS operation.

If you want one that runs without the visuals, here's one you can try. (http://www.groovygamegear.com/KWstealth.zip)

Thanks both.

Tiger Heli is right.
