Title: Quick Tip: How to get WinXP to run in 640x480
Post by: daveg2000 on April 30, 2005, 10:58:11 pm
In my cab, I'm now using a TV W/Svideo out.
I have the Windows Resolution set to 800x600 so I
can get things 'as big' as I can... for easier reading on the screen.

I never knew you could do this, but here is how to get
WinXP desktop to run in 640x480

Yup... Theres also a great little app called quickres that gives you command line.  This has the advantage that you can turn your desktop to work at 320x240, 320x200, ect...  Great for those who have an arcade monitor + arcadevga and who don't like interlaced mode.

I'm also using a TV as my monitor.  However when WinXP is set to 640x480, part of the image bleeds off the screen.  I'm using a resolution tool that allows a resolution of 640x432.  This allows the intire image to show on the TV.  The only problem is that since it's not a native res, no frontends can show the entire image (just during game selection).  This doesn not affect the games, just the FE.

Are you able to see the entire image on your TV when run at 640x480?

Thanks.

If you are talking about the XP Desktop... yes.. I can see everything.

I did notice that when in Mamewah, when editing my game list,
some of the buttons on the right side of the window
are hidden... but this is because mamewah config is running in
800x600 and I dont know how to change it to 640x480 - if its even
possible...

Othewise... yes, I can see everything.
