Title: Mini Moon Patrol-turned SF2
Post by: tommy on April 25, 2005, 11:06:06 am
Im going to start with something small and see how it goes, i took some measurements off my full size MP and made it a bit smaller. I plan on making a full size something or other after i give this a go.

I made the width smaller to hold a 17" LCD screen perfectly, and its comming along pretty well in my estimation. Heres a pic of the start.

So far so good - what's with the round dowel for corner support?  Is that a cab building secret?  Does it give the cab superior strength or something?  How the heck did you get it to stay in place?  Liquid nails?

I wish I could help out with the artwork, I love to do it but my PC is a dog when it comes to those programs.

I'd like to make one of these mini-cabs one day.  I've got the 5 in 1 all ready to go...

I got alittle bit of painting done this morning, im also seeing about a cpo and hopefully that works out. I might just leave the sides solid blue, or maybe a red white and blue theme but its all up in the air still.

I will be watching you very closely!

Thanks BB1, im still finishing the main paint work and i installed the marquee metal frame and painted it black to see how it looks on the cab, i need to run back to Home Depot for some more paint (this MDF really absorbs paint, i didnt expect to go through so much)

Warning- Do not smoke while painting, ashes ruin your nice paint job if ashed on.

I thought this was a no brainer.

Warning: getting stuff into your paint, while you're painting, can ruin your paint job.

Nice looking little cab. I keep intending to build a bartop for my brother in law, but I may go with a mini cab instead. That has a lot more character than a bartop. Nice work so far.

As you can tell i have made this cab full sized by adding the lower half, i did i decent job blending the lower half and im pretty happy with it.

Ive added the joy and buttons, but im waiting on my ipac to arrive.

very nice.  there isn't enough SF love around here.

i also like the color.  it's amazing that there are thousands of paint colors to chose from, but most of us just go with black.

I used a roller and some gloss paint, i gave it many many coats and think it turned out well.

This was just a quicky project so i could get rid of my full size MP that was all beat up and making me sick everyday looking at it. Soon ill have time to make a nice 2 player full size cab and will start planning soon.
