this is just a an FYI, especially with all the hype about the SNK sticks lately.
I knew I wanted the green translucent sticks from Groovy Game Gear, I also knew that Ikari Warriors and Heavy Barrel were some of my favorite games of all time. so I had to pair these up.
Basically I cut some off a Randt T's (GGG) Versa ball and mated it to a Happ Mechanical Rotary base. The Happ Rotary is for the most part a super, and it also plays like a super. This was a major plus because the SNK rotaries play pretty bad if you ask me. I also had to drill a hole for the set screw of the rotary atachment.
Here are some pics that hopefully will explain the process.
I chose to only cut off a little of the shaft. This would still allow me to use it in a regular super base if I wanted too later.
Pros:
more flexible lengths (the Happ stick as it comes is really short)
better gameplay in all games (again for might be just me, but the SNK is too short and stubby for fighters)
Wicked Awesome Green Translucent Balltops!!!!
Cons:
you gotta cut up these awesome sticks
increased cost over the regular super (40ish for the rotary)
I did a quick search and haven't seen this yet, but it coulda been done.
Major Compliments to RandyT and his translucent balltops. Excellent Quality, and they look awesome.

here's a closer pic of the modifcations to the end of the stick.

Pretty cool. I'm surprised nobody has replied to this yet. Props on the decent, in focus pics also.

the macro setting is an awesome thing on digital cameras ;)
it's kinda of a hit and miss thing. most people really want the SNKs or don't care about rotaries.

Very cool! I'm getting 2 of the Happ Mechanical rotaries, and probably 2 Supers for my other two sticks. I suppose changing out stick tops will be something I could address in the future....
....once I actually have the thing built. ;)

are the Happs optical rotaries built the same? maybe those shafts would also work on opticals?

yes, the Mechanical and the Optical are exactly the same from the plastic adapter on up. So this would work on those too.
using an optical would make for a cool way to play driving games, or some spinner games.
