My grandparents are now 80 and 90 years old and are heading for the retirement houses being built not far from their current unit.
My grandmother over the years has collected clocks from garage sales and her walls in her unit are littered with about 100 clocks.
We are holding a garage sale to get rid of masses of furniture and tons of other junk (treasure to some?).
I figured that you can't really hold a garage sale with all the other stuff + 100 clocks. You might sell a few but that's it.
There would be a few that don't work but most do.
There is all sorts of clocks including hand made timber ones, watch clocks and rediculous styles that only grandma would hang on her wall.
How do I get rid of them? Would eBay be an option? Are people interested in buying or collecting clocks?
Thanks.

whatever doesn't sell in the yard sell then give e-bay a try.... people sometimes collect what others might think are the strangest things... My grandma for example collects salt and pepper shakers... I think it's weird but then again my wife thinks my collection of misc. arcade parts, electronic parts and computer parts is weird...
so by selling them on e-bay you are bound to find the person who has been looking for the "Holey Grail" of clocks which your grandma owned..........

I could sell them on eBay. 35 cents list fee and what do I list them at? $1 no reserve? To be honest I couldn't care less if some of them would sell for $1, she probably bought them for $1.
I guess I could offer to have people pick up the clocks too. That would save people a $10 postage & pack fee.

I have grabbed two particular clocks. A dart board one and a snooker table one which would suit the games room nice ;D

I could probably give you about a dozen or more different styles she has ;D
but then again my wife thinks my collection of misc. arcade parts, electronic parts and computer parts is weird...
Electronic and arcade parts are fine and to be excluded from any sort of negativity. What would we do without them? Our whole houses are controlled by them. Our TV, washing machine, PC, toaster, clock radio, phone, stereo etc...
-
another idea would be to post some pics of the clocks here......
someone might find one that they think would go great in their gameroom.............
-
Thanks for the suggestion, but those two clocks I mentioned are the only two I can think of that would suit a gamesroom ;D
The rest are fancy, ordinary ones, plus I have to drive 140 miles currently to take the pictures.

any of them have an eighties retro feel/look to them?
-
Save yourself .10 a listing and put them up for .99 cents.
-
go a head and show some.
I have more then a game room at my house.
maybe I would see one I would like.
-
PICS!
Some of those clocks might be worth some real money :o
-
Sell em as a lot. There's bound to be freak clock collectors out there....
-
Nah, list them all at the same time, .99 cents each, and offer combined shipping. One lot might simplify shipping, but you have to count on getting a few of the BIG TIME clock freaks excited. With all of them separate but listed at the same time you should get lots of collectors buying multiple ones to combine shipping, and bidding against each other, etc.
I have noticed it in the past selling NES games. If I list 1 game I am lucky to get the $1.50 asking price. If I list 100 (separately) at once they will average out to like $5 each.

Set them all 20 minutes late as a science experiment. Damn...I am late for school!!!

Doh........ I didn't catch that one
must re-watch BTTF

Darn! BrokenBones1 beat me to the BTTF joke!
Darn! You both beat me to it. I was so excited too!
BTW: Does anybody actually collect clocks? That'd be a major pain come Daylight Saving Time. You'd pretty much have to cancel your plans for the weekend

must re-watch BTTF
As you forgot, when Marty is at Doc's place at the start of the movie, he blows up the rediculous sized speaker and then Doc calls. When the clocks start ringing, Doc says it means they are running 20 minutes slow and Marty says 'Damn, I'm late for school'..

I am going to Grannies and Grandaddies next week, so I will take pictures of all her clocks. The garage sale is next week too.
It seems that when you get older or old, people start losing their minds. My Grandma has..... ;D

Any "Kit Kat Klocks" in the collection ? You know, the cat clocks that have the moving eyes and a wagging pendulum tail. If so how much?
-
we had that clock when I was a kid ;)
-
I work with a guy whose wife makes $50k a year buying and selling clocks and dolls on EBAY. That is net! Of course she is a clock and doll expert as compared to the rest of us ;)
Do some EBAY research first. You may well have many $$$$ in clocks.
