Tag & Rename

http://www.softpointer.com/tr.htm

Without a doubt the best, most feature-full, and easiest to use MP3 organizer on the planet.  I did nearly 50 gigabytes in about 2 hours, and not only fixed all ID3 tags/removed dups, but also used it to rename all of my MP3's based on a specification .. something like ( %Artist% ) - %Album% - %Track% - %Title%.mp3

Nice program, now can I ask if anyone has a good FREE MP3 organizer...?

Yes, I'm a cheap bastard who wants to save all his cash for his Arcade Cabinets!

I've had great success with TagScanner:

Nice smooth interface, and really fast I find. Its completely free - you can donate if you like it.

I use mp3 tag studio.  It's NOT free but they include a free use version that bugs you with ads that sit above the app window whenever it's running.  Not too irritating and I have really good experiences with it.  And if the ads do bug you and you really like the program, you can pay and register it....

give it a try.

hey Bumble...I've used Mp3Tag Studio for YEARS.  I just got  Tag&Rename and it's AWESOME.  Takes a little getting used to (everything is right there..not as many tabs as MP3Tag Studio) but it's very cool the way it'll download information from FreeDB or 3 different Amazon sites...and it'll get cover art and stuff too.  And that's helpful with some Jukebox programs!  :)

Just trying to help out.  ;)

I've been going through a painstaking time trying to organize my MP3's right now.  I'm going to have to give this tag & rename a shot.

Grab foobar2000 from foobar2000.org - I cant pimp this program enough! I use it for playback, and tagging and its done all that I have wanted.

just be aware that the default is to write ape tags to mp3 files, you need to go in and change it to id3 v2. whatever if thats what you are looking for.

im looking for some software to organize my mp3's and im using tag and rename right now and its good, works great.  the only thing im looking for that i dont have, is a way to search for album information like covers, dates, artist info, etc.  im trying to organize my collection for a media center.  tag and rename has an option to search for album info, but you have to pay in order to get it....is there any other software that allows this??

I'm a big fan of MediaMonkey (http://www.mediamonkey.com/).  Does just about everything, and there are user-created scripts available to do everything that's missing.  Rip, Burn, Convert Tormat.  Tag, Rename, Move.  AlbumArt, iPod sync, Playlist.  Built-in file browser with drag-n-drop operation, built-in player, etc.

The only thing it ain't, is a jukebox.

In the "not free" category, I'm a fan of J River Media Center (http://www.jrmediacenter.com/)

Dude you can get album info in tag & rename. It can pull from amazon or CDDA... Hightlight all the files by clicking the blue tick box then use the drop down menu at the top and select get album info from amazon (Or CDDA). You get 2 boxes where it will fill in the artist and album if you have that part tagged if not you can enter it manually. It will then try and pull the info for you. It even fills in the comments field should you wish and it can embed the images....
