Title: AVGA driver problem.
Post by: Fat_Trucker on April 23, 2005, 10:27:07 am
Hi Guys.

I bought an AVGA from Ultimarc a few weeks ago and I am trying to get it installed on an MSI K7N2Delta mobo running windows XP.
For some reason whenever I try to install the driver from the CD that came with the card it tells me the driver isn't compatible with Win XP?. I have tried exploring the CD and installing the driver directly from the Win XP setup icon but no joy.

Any ideas/help etc etc?

Have you uninstalled the previous VGA drivers?  My experience with ATI drivers and control panels is that they don't always uninstall cleanly.

Try the latest driver from http://www.ultimarc.com/avgadrivers

Thanks chaps.

I sorted it in the end by booting into safe mode, loading the generic drivers XP carries for ATI then installing the AVGA drivers over the top.

Not really sure why it worked that way but it was giving me error messages about DirectX 8 needing to be installed (even though PC is running DX9). Maybe it was something to do with the Nforce being an Nvidia chipset.

Anyway all is rosy now and the cabs back up and running.
