Hello all,
I have been lurking and deciding on whether or not to do this project the last 2 weeks or so. And I have come to the conclusion that I must.
After reading through a ton of info, i have decided to make a 4 player cabnet. That is the only decision I have made so far. I don't even have a name yet.
So to start, I bought Project Arcade and plan on reading it through once. In 2 weeks I have toyed with doing a number of things and my mind changes every hour. (I went from a 4 player to a 2 player to a 4 player at least 3 times).
So I am reading the book to get as many ideas as I can. (Great read by the way I recommend it to other newbs). I think I am going with a 33" monitor. I think that would be best for shooters. Anyway, I don't really have any details yet.
I am working on getting a web page up to document my progress. So I just wanted to say hello and thanks for all the help you have already provided in the countlest web pages I have visited and posts that I have read.

Looks great arcadeattic. Your turn around time is much quicker then mine will be. I have gotten about half way through Project Arcade and unforunatly I have even less of an idea then I did before because of all the options that I have. But I am having fun.

Well, almost a year later I have an update with pictures coming soon. I have gone through the emotions, the highs and lows and have built an arcade machine.
I ending up going the LuSid route and had a great time. I built it with a friend of mine who had the tools and know how to get it done. We built two cabs and both came out nice.
I also ended up going with a 2-player cab and 27" monitor. Anyway, just wanted to post an update and let those know who are just getting started not to give up. It took me a year but it was well worth the wait.
Next up 2 player driving cab. Talk to you in a year

Looking forward to the pictures...

Welcome!
I'm just starting things myself. I have my cabinet that I'll be working with, and my blog is up and ready to document everything I do (http://mameproject.blogspot.com).
I'll be building a 2-player panel with a trackball, spinner, and additional 4-way stick. I'm going to start ordering my stuff today, so hopefully I'll be cutting by the weekend!

Well pics will be delayed as I am in the hospital. My wife went into labor a week early. So I hope to find some time in the next week to post them.

Ok here are some picks. I want to say thanks to Scott at Mame Marquees. I really like the games Mortal Kombat and Xmen and Scott made a theme for me. More details to come along with a more detailed write up.

So all I have left is:
Mount monitor
Mount Glass
Wire coin door
Software tweaks
Light Guns (this won't be fun see the zillion page post)
I really like the look of it. I know it is a straight LuSid design, but to me it is a feat. A friend of mine did most of the cuts and the 2 of us put them together. He made one as well. There are some things that did not come out perfect but anyone of my friends who have seen it say it is amazing.
Another few notes. I had a TV to start and was not happy with it as there are some PC games I wanted play and visual pinball looked like crap. Also, I had an Omni Stick Prodigy on the CP but took it off as the 49 ways that I used work fine for me in 4 way games.
Eventually I will get a more structured page up, but really nothing out of the ordinary. I followed the Project Arcade book pretty closely. No big problems. I would have done a few things differently, but I am going to get more ambitious and try a driving cab maybe a 2 player one at that ;D
That will take me 2 years :)
