Title: Best way to discharge a monitor.
Post by: slicer_d on April 22, 2005, 12:41:29 pm
Just ordered som cap kits from bob and I will need to be discharging my monitors soon. I have heard multiple ways of doing this so I just want to know which one you guys prefer.

First off I know to connect a wire to a flathead screwdriver from there I have heard it a couple ways.  First I have heard to attach the other end of the wire to another screw driver and then stick it into the ground socket of a power outlet.  I have also heard people say not to do this for various reasons.  The other method I have heard is attching the ground wire to the chasis.  But is dont know where to attach it to so could somebody help me out.

Thanks

I ground the the frame of the monitor.  The big metal thing everything else is screwed/bolted to.  I think there's confusion to what the "chassis" of a monitor is.  I consider the chassis the PCB and neckboard of the monitor and the metal frame as... the frame.  Maybe my thinking is wrong.
