Excuse my ignorance.
Just scored 2 FREE green handled SNK LS-30's (amongst other things) from a friend.
I'm curious which game they came from.
-
can I have them? ;D
-
I'm not sure....send them to me so I can do more...research.
Yeah, that's it.

Come on boys... you already know the answer. I almost shat myself when he gave them to me! ;) I'm making him a bartop (on my next run of 3) to make up for the 15 other pcb's and a dozen or so other joysticks/button/CP's he gave me!!
Anway..back to the bland subject matter... the only link to green handled rotary's I can find is Cal.50 (Caliber 50). However , they are optical rotaries....
Hence, the nearest explanation at this stage is that they are Cal.50 green handles on analog rotary bases.... unless someone can shoot me down?
Again...just curious.

gotta pic?

Do they have any identifiable markings on them? Like the Ikari's have the "S" for SNK, and Heavy Barrel has (DE) for Data East.
-
Markings.. yes.
SNK 'S' on top of handle.
Here are some pics. This is how I received them yesterday. They need a good shower! ;)

That would be my guess as well. Nice find, BTW!!!

That looks like a 13 pin harness for mechanical rotary LS30. Can you verify that its' 13pins? If it was optical I don't think it'd have that harness. Just a few wires for power and optical signals.
-
Yeh Druin, 13 pins. BTW.. will be hitting you soon for an ls-30 interface. :)
Oh well, the almost pointless mystery continues?! ;)
I have never completely stripped one of these babies down before. I intend to hit her with some brasso and a good wash were applicable.
Are there any small parts I have to be wary of whilst dismantling/re-assembling? ie parts under spring load etc
Cheers in advance.

Yes,those are definitely knobs from the Seimitsu/SNK optical rotarys from 'Calibur 50". The yellow and green knobs were interchangable. The bases however look like normal 2nd generation LS-30's. Someone replaced the original yellow ones with those at some point. Those knobs are pretty darn rare since the the only game that used the green handled Seimitsu/SNK optical rotarys was Calibur 50. The only other game that used that specific brand of optical rotary stick was "Touchdown Fever" but it didn't come with the green hex shaped handles that you have. It came with knobs that were in the shape of little footballs which are just as rare.

Thanks spidermonkey.
I can tell Matlock to go home now! :P
