Title: 21 Inch Monitor Anyone?
Post by: Avery on April 19, 2005, 04:51:21 pm
If you're looking for an authentic EGA monitor, or if 21 inches just isn't quite enough real estate for you, sorry.

That being said, and outfit in St. Louis, Business Systems Connection,
http://www.bizsyscon.com has a heap of KDS KVS-21 21" Pixeltouch Monitors for sale for $75.

Pros:  They are kiosk monitors so they are designed to be mounted in a cabinet.  These are not touch screen monitors.  They work fine with a regular PC video card.  The drivers can be pulled down from the web.

Cons:  They're used - the one I have has some screen burn that I can just make out if the screen is set to the right color, and their power and adjustment buttons are in a weird locations (behind little holes in the left side of the case).

They've got a couple for sale on E-bay right now (in a lot of two) but if you call them you can buy just one.

Heh... the infamous KDS Pixeltouches.

Search (this forum and Buy/Sell/Trade) and ye shall see the drama that unfolded from multiple previous purchases from a couple of different sellers.

Unless you can physically inspect it in person yourself, these are NOT worth the time and cost to "try out".

How can you refute a reply from a person named 'MonitorGuru'?   ;D

I see what you mean.  Fortunatly, for me, the guys I mentioned are close enough to work to make going there and trying one out just a long lunch.

I don't even want to think about what shipping would be on one of these beasts.

IIRC, this is Paigeoliver's secret supplier of 21" KDS monitors.

They will allow pickups, so if you are local, it is a good deal. From what Paige has said in the past, you can even test it at their warehouse to insure it works.

Definitely only get them if you can personally test them or take them back if they poop out on you.  Mine stopped working after a month  :-\

Is there anywhere else to get a working 21 inch touch monitor. I've been excited about trying to get one since I first saw Quest of D (http://www.questofd.com) I've tried google and price watch. This looks like the only way I can get one. :(

I have bought lots of these things, I always go up in person, cherry pick them from the warehouse, and then have them test them right there.
