Whats the best way to go about designing artwork and layout for a control panel. Wouldnt know where to start? Any tips ideas how did you guys start? an idea or seeing someone elses?
Help me please lol
-
a little of both... see what other people are doing, that might help you find a place to start... see what you like and don't like, and go from there. or think of a central theme and spread out from there. maybe one object or idea.
these things take time... its not something your going to wake up with tomorrow morning...
-
Of all the parts of my cabinet, the artwork/theme took the longest.
-
Love the cab very unique and has a story too which is what makes it personal i like it.
Im very grateful for the advice guys im a real fan of capcom and especially seeing as i was a teen during the 1990's would love to incorporate some kinda theme with all the different characters.
-
I could really do with some really cool Vector art work for Final fight, punisher and Streetfighter series and ideas ?
-
Your "add credits" buttons could be above a graphic of one of the Final Fight guys blowing on the dynamite fuse. ;D
-
Now that the kinda stuff im talking about nice idea
-
How do i get these vectored?? is it even possible??
-
Possible, but it would be a hell of a job. See the thread here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,35634.0.html
-
I doubt i would have the skill to do this then thanks for the help.
-
would anyone be willing to help me out and i would pay for your services? i heard that someone called frosty is good? does this make sense to anyone.
-
He's actually Frostillicus, and he has a vector art tutorial stickied around here (in a few places, I'm sure).
-
Thanks again mate. I still think i would need to get someone to do this as i know i wouldnt be any good at this technical work.
-
How would i contact Frostillicus?? does he do projects?
-
am still looking for ideas too ?
-

-
More Art would love some ideas guys??
-
art work
-
more
-
..
-
Thanks guys
-
Here's a little something I've been playing around with... maybe it will give you some ideas?
-
Thats amazing i really love the button layout and as for the artwork amazing. How did you do that?
-
The button layouts and the Kanji I did in a vector program. The rest was done in photoshop. A lot of cutting and pasting, and playing with layer properties.
-
Think its possible to achieve something like this for my control panel. I have a 3" trackball and a 4 way joystick aswell as the 2 happs joysticks with 7 butttons each like yours.
-
It should be possible to create something similar considering the art you want to use...
-
Iv Downloaded the inkscape free vector software and am gonna try and do some work on my art.
Wish me luck as i have no experience at this at all :(
-
Right I give up dont know what the hell im doing iv read Frostillicus vector guide like a hundred times now and it still looks Sh**e really am losing my patience with this.
Definately not cut out for doing my own artwork.
Thats a good 5 Hours Wasted!!
-
I use sodipodi for my vector work... it's free, and relatively easy to use.
Only my button layouts and kanji are vectored. The rest are just raster files I cut, pasted, and layered...
I wish you luck, and a little patience, lol. I know it can be frustrating trying to come up with something that looks good. I spent a good amount of time learning how to do this stuff. :D
-
Kinda lost the plot big time tonight >:( lol am sure I will give it another try but you really cant grasp what am supposed to be doing at moment.
Thanks for the encouragment Mate :)
-
Any Way its nearly 3 am iv tried my best will call it a day I think
-
WHAT THE FLYING FUNK !!! ??? ???
This "hyper final fight" for realz ??
-
Yes its a Mod of the original its based on the streets of Rage game engine and is developed by fans of the genre 100% unoffical but if your a massive fan of the game like i am then definately worth a look.
10 selectable characters including Guile, Cammy, Alpha Guy & Cody plus a load of other streetfighter and final characters.
Theres also a Sequel Hyper Final fight 2 which includes Dee jay and a few other characters.
Very nice job seeing as its done by fans.
-
Somescreen shots ;D
-
Yeah, it's for real, I have it lol... :P
-
Great thing about it is you can play iy on your cab as the buttons can be configured :)
-
Hi Snaake had a look at your cabinet very nice work I see your using the same plans i have for the UAII im gonna use a 28" tv and my question is would you be able to give me the dimensions of you Control panel please and how did you worlk out how big it needs to be etc.
-
HarumaN what button spacings did you use for your joystick and neo/capcom button layout.
Im trying to work out which is best for a 7 button setup like yours dont want them to look funny or be to close.
Also want an arch look rather than two straight rows of buttons 4 & 3.
-
I forget what I used for the spacing... I measured one of the happs nylon nuts, and made the spacing between centers of the holes slightly larger than that. I have an Autocad file I printed off and used as a template when I drilled my holes on the panel. I can send you that if you want.
-
Hey that would be cool but not sure what i would open the file with iv only got inkscape which i downloaded off anoth thred on here.

mine is 44"X16".I didnt actually use the plan so its probly not accurate.
-
Is that inches Snaake?
-
You sound like my wife!
-
lol Nice one mate :)
-
Whats the best way to work out layout, spacing and the overall size of the control panel???
Dont want it to be too big but also dont want it too look wrong or not in fitting with the rest of the cab.
Im using the UAII with a 28" monitor so i guess cab will be that wide right? maybe a little bit bigger. So c/p has to be at least 28" wide.

-

-
Final fight artwork very welcome if you where i can get some :D
-
Well its been a while since i posted on this thread but my good friend Walls83 has been working very hard on the c/p and had to show it on the forum as its amazing.
Many thanks mate cant thanks you enough for all your work :D
would be nice to hear what you guys think?
-
Looks Great...
-
Looking good so far but try using a brick wall style background(similer to old school FF marquee) and DEFINETLY use the cvs2 version of Rolento cuz its teh cool of the cool.Attached souce pic ! ;D
-
Thanks Snaake
Yes did see that pic as final fight artwork is so hard to find and was limited to whats out there was considering using that pic but think with the over all feel of the cp walls has got it spot on.
We did also try using the brickwall effect on one of the first drafts but didnt work that well.
If you look at the original cp used on final fight was just the logo and some barb wire so as a final touch we added it on there and workds really well mixing old an new :)
-
Note: by we i mean Brad aka walls83 i mearly made some suggestions :D
