Title: Create "selective" ghost/other image of machine?
Post by: electricd on April 18, 2005, 02:33:57 pm
Hello all.  I have had my cabinet up and running for a couple of years now, and am constantly looking for ways to "tweak" it.  It just occured to me that I don't have a restore image for it!  My question is how can I make an image of my machine to use for restore purposes, but leave out all of my ROMS (I have these backed up separately on DVDs).  I own Ghost 9, but am not sure if this can be done?  Anyone done this?  I know I could move all the ROMS off of the system and then ghost it, but am looking for a way to avoid doing this if possible.  Thanks in advance!

I have my OS on one partition and everything else on another partition; this simplifies backups.

It's probably too late for you to repartition, but if you do, create a separate partition for things that are on your DVD sets.

I haven't used Ghost in a while, so I'm not sure whether that is an option or not.

Your easiest way to accomplish this however, is to simply delete all the contents of your rom folders in your current system (assuming you have it configured the way you like).  You said you had the roms backed up, so it'll be a simple process to put them right back, and you can do your ghost without the roms.
