Title: ADAPTIOD BACK IN STOCK at ZTNET STORE!!!
Post by: nipsmg on April 15, 2005, 09:03:08 am
Everyone and their mother has been asking about the Adaptoids lately and paying outrageous amounts on Ebay for them.  They're back in stock at the ZTNET store for $29.99 ea.

How is the adaptiod with Non-Nintendo brand N64 controllers? I have the Boom N64/PS2 but it doesn't like aftermarket controllers. Only the official Nintendo ones. Is the adaptoid the same way?

Thanks!

why not just get a real controller?  i guess i might be missing something here...but if you just got a real one, you wouldn't have to worry about it.  as for if they do or not, i have no idea.

I do have a real controller. It's also been beat to hell with use :) I am asking because I also have 2 brand new Pelican versions that are the same style, etc as the originals and have a really nice analog stick that being brand new, doesn't flop all over the place like my beat up one. The pelican brand ones I have also have the auto fire thing and wreaks havok on the Boom adapter no matter whether it's on or off. So I am considering a better interface if it does handle other controllers better. Or maybe you can point me to a source of new, unused original N64 controllers? I have no loyalty to a set of $5 controllers, only ones that still work :)

:o Wow! I saw what you paid for those, it's a good thing the seller is refunding you the difference. That would have hurt if he didn't.

Don't tell the wife. Can you say New MOBO. Maybe that why I'm divorced.

Has anyone tried one of these for the N64 functionality?

I use 2 of them with no problems. I bought used controllers from he mall for $10 and had no problems at all. I actually bought my adapters from that guy on ebay, fast shipping.

I've dealt with him in the past and he has great service.  Do these support all the buttons and the analog stick completely?  If so, I see no reason to spend $30 on an adaptoid...

the adaptoid supports rumble and all mempacks.  The adaptoid is an amazing product.

Thanks a lot for the heads-up NipsMG.  I saw this post and ordered an adaptoid because I really must have the proper control for Bond and get my saved game from a friend's mempack so that I can continue trying to beat the level time on level two--makes me feel like Bond to drop in through the toilet stall and run past hordes of Russians with AK-47's.  I also ordered one of those four-at-once psx pad adaptors for some bomberman action.  I hope that one works as well as advertised.

That's cool, I didn't know that P64 came configured to work with the Adaptiod.  I know the other ones are cheaper, but the save game feature is good to have.  I'll be getting one.
Is there any way to get 2 controllers to work with P64 for a 2 player game.  2 Adaptoids?
Thanks,
JD

$29 US + Shipping + Tax

And i wanted to get four of them. That leaves me to believe that it will cost too much for my budget :(

I feel like I'm missing something... can't you just save games to the HDD?  I suppose rumble apeals to some, but I hate it personally.  Not trying to knock the adaptoid at all, just not sure what the appeal of the memcard usage would be.

I just did a little looking around the net... and it seems that you can use most of the "game pad" controllers for these emulators.  So, unless you need authentic controls, use some thing like Nyko Airflo or similar game pad.
Not sure about the whole game save thing... But, isn't that build into the P64 emulator?

If you played a game like Perfect dark on an N64 and you've gotten to a place in the game that you recognize or maybe have that perfect multiplayer setup with bots that look like agents from the Matrix, then the Adaptoid is perfect because it presumably will read and download the actual game saves from the original mempack ... all that through the usb port.  So you're kind of spending the extra dough to have the authentic experience on your pc, if you get my drift.  If you don't care to have the games play from the point you remember or just want to play with cheats, then you could easily get another adapter.  I thought long and hard about this one and decided that authenticity would be worth it.  No other adapter that I've ever encountered has had such universal acclaim.  The only gripe I've ever seen about it was price, especially when they're hawked on ebay.  Hope that explains why crazy people like myself would shell out the extra $15-$20.

That price kills me.

The other adapter thats out sells for less then $10 and supports PSX and N64 in one...

If it was $20 with shipping. i would have grabbed 4 of those bad boys.

You're paying for a superior product with more features and the absolute best reliability.

If you don't need the rumble/mempack options, I'm sure the $10 product will work just fine.  I personally love my adaptoids.  It's really a matter of personal preference.
