I have a Defender cabinet I'd like someone to take. I'd keep it for an eventual multi-Williams, but I have TOO many projects on my plate already. It is in decent condition, sideart is painted over solid black. It has the coin door, jamma kung fu marquee, CP with 4 buttons and 1 stick, and Defender bezel. I want to keep the monitor, PS, and jamma board, you can have the rest if you want it.
Free in Charleston, WV.

Thats cool wade!
-
Bump. Good FREE cabinet. Help the brother out and take it!
-
Nobody has grabbed this yet?
-
I'll take it if you can get it to Charlotte, NC. ;D
-
Sure. Why don't I bring it down, pay for all the gas, and I'll even carry it into your house for you. All for free. ;)
Is there no one kinda near by who could use this? I'm only about 2.5 hours from Columbus OH. I might be willing to meet part of the way, in order to save a cabinet, rather than throw it away.

Hey Wade,
I live in Southeastern Ohio and would take the cab off your hands if I only had the space (and permission from my fiancee ;)). I'm currently building a multi-williams inspired bartop and would love to have the bezel especially, although it probably wouldn't really fit my "17 inch computer monitor. How big is the cabinet, anyway? Maybe a picture of the cab would help to inspire someone on the board. I enjoyed seeing pictures of your gameroom on the main forum, also. I'll get back to you if I can work something out ... maybe talk to a guy I know who told me he wanted a dedicated Defender for his rumpus room.

Sure, just let me know if you end up being able to take it. And I'm glad you enjoyed the gameroom pics. :)
The cabinet is the standard sized Defender cabinet, probably about 25-26" wide, and about 6 feet tall.
I will try to remember to snap some pictures of it, because you're right, it would probably help to get someone interested in it.
I would keep it and Mame or Multiwilliams it myself, but I have 3 full restorations on my plate already (at least 1 of which I already know I'm going to have to sell), plus some other miscellaneous repairs to other games. If I can get two of these games knocked out soon, it won't be such a big deal to keep that cabinet indefinitely. But right now it is blocking one of my cars from being able to leave the garage! :) I've just gotta finish a few things and clean up the place, then it won't be such a big deal.

Ken/ Wade.
If you guys work out meeting somewhere to pickup the cab. I would like to add something to trade.
As Wade has something that I want as well. And it'll be great Ken if you can pickup this item for me as well. Then I would drive to your place in Ohio to pick it up.
I would share in whatever costs in order to make this happen.

Hey Wade and GGKoul,
Sorry for the long delay, but I definitely can't take this one. I have limited space right now and next year we're moving into an even more limited area. Also, I don't have easy access to a truck. So, thanks for the offer and hope you find someone who can do the job and save that cab from dumpster destruction. BTW, maybe you really should post a pic to drum up more interest. Just a thought.
Cheers and good luck,

How 'decent' is decent? Any water damage? How's the paint? How 'bout some pics :D
-
I'll get some pics probably this weekend.
It has no water damage that I can see. The inside looks fairly clean and if there was ever water on it, it wasn't significant. No big chunks or anything like that. The Defender artwork is clearly visible under the black, but I haven't tried to strip the black off yet to see how good the Defender artwork is. Most of the flaws I see are tiny little dents in the sides.

It looks like someone will be taking this, but I'm posting this just in case it falls through.
The pictures don't show a back door, but there is one. I'm taking the monitor and electronics, so you would end up with the cabinet, speaker and grill, monitor bezel, monitor glass, coin door, control panel with buttons and joystick.
The cabinet is solid and doesn't appear to have any water damage or big chunks, however it has lots of tiny little dings in it. It will take a little work to make it look like new.

hmm... you're only 2.5 hours away from where I live...
*edit: oh, nvrmind, its for a cabinet only... :P
-
Someone please come and get this cabinet, I have already stripped the electronics and the monitor from it. I'm *this* close to just cutting it up and putting it in the trash! It isn't even water damaged, it is structurally great. Just needs some love to turn it back into a Defender or convert it to a Mame, or something else. I have too many projects already so I really don't want to add this one to my list.

to far for me...i misread the location...still availible. don't let this cab go to the dumpster :)
-
This is my dream Cabinet. I live in Canada (near Toronto) so it's really far but I am considering that it might be worth it to ship it. Would you mind if I tried to arrange North American VanLines to ship it here?

I hate to say it, but I don't think it is worth it to ship. It would probably run $250 or more. But if you really want to, it's your money. I'm sure you could find one locally. :/

I TOLD you you would end up wanting more cabs ... ;D
Cheers

I might buy the monitor bezel artwork(and whatever it's printed on) if it comes to that, and you'd ship it.
-
If I cut it up... (very likely, this weekend) then I will keep the bezels, light, speaker, etc. for future use. That kind of stuff always comes in handy.
Thanks,
Wade

I forgot all about this cab but after re-reading this thread, I went out, measured my wife's vehicle and it won't fit even if I was to do the multi-hour drive down to your place.
Too bad nobody can take this off your hands :(
There was some new person posting from Columbus who was looking for a cab (I think). I'll see if I can find his posts in the Main forum and I'll PM him about this thread.
-
Well, it made it through another weekend, mostly because I was busy with other things and just didn't get around to doing any game work. My brother wants me to make it into a Mame for him, so it might find a home after all. But I'm not terribly interested in the idea, at the moment. Maybe in the winter when there is nothing else to do.

OK, North American VanLines finally responded with a shipping quote: $497.75 + customs fees....HOLY MOLY and I think I will throw in a WOW as well!!!
Clearly I was smoking some serious hallucinogen. So, Wade, thanks for the advice, I'll be taking a pass after all.
-
Someone finally came and got it! Woo-hoo! One less project on my list. :)
Wade
-
Yeah! I'm glad somebody got it before it became firewood!
-
Me too.
