I have found an original PacMan cab that is running Ms. Pac. I already have a Ms. Pac and want to convert the original cab back to pacman. I know you just have to unhook the second board...but weren't there 2 character chips that had to be removed and replaced with Ms. Pac character chips?..not sure what the 'proper name' of those 2 chips are.
Does anyone have those 2 original pac chips they'd be willing to sell me for cheap? With all the Ms. Pac conversions over the years, there's gotta be a ton of them lying around. My local arcade repair store probably has some, but i'd like to see if anyone just wants to get rid of some, as the arcade store would most likely inflate the price.
Also, to the best of my knowledge, that's all you have to do to get a Ms. Pac back to a regular pac....am i missing anything else??

I believe I still have a set around home. Let me check after work and I'll let you know.

Alright, I do have Pac Man chips: 5E, 5F, 6E, 6F, 6H, and 6J. (You should just need the 5E and 5F chips).
-
Would you be willing to give/sell them to me?
I don't have the game yet....i want to make sure i have everything needed to convert it, so i don't want to make a huge investment until i have the game.....but if you'd be willing to give them to me or sell them to me for cheap, i'll take them.
Let me know what you want for them! Thanks!

I might trade you for the Ms Pac daughter card and 5E, 5F chips. I have someone who wanted my Pac Man turned into a Ms Pac! (right now I have a multiPac kit installed)
-
Hmm, i might be interested in that multipac if you end up pulling it out of your machine. What kind of price would you want for that? If i get that, i won't need the pacman chips, right?
Here's the problem....i haven't bought the machine yet, it's at the arcade store. And i don't want to buy it until the guy at the place can either change it back to original pac or put a multipac in it.
So, in order to get the daughter card for you, i have to buy the machine and get it converted...i can only get it converted if i have the pac chips. I know nothing about putting chips in, so i want the guy to do it, but i don't want to haul it to my house, wait for the chips, then haul it back to the arcade store to have the guy convert it for me.....see the dilemma i'm in.
Too bad we didn't live closer, we could cut out the middle man and you could just sell me your original pac with the multipac and then we'd both get what we'd want. But we'd get killed on shipping.

How much are you paying for it?
-
i don't mean to interrupt but if this doesn't work out i also need that entire set for a bootleg pac board...thanks!

He's asking 600.00 for it. Seems like a good deal for around this area. I know people are saying you can get an original pac for 4 or 5 hundred. But we don't have arcade auctions or anything like that in Omaha, so supply seems kind of scarce. Plus i've seen the cab and it's in pretty good shape as far as the paint and side art go. I asked the guy about converting it back and he said he'd probably charge me another 50.00 in labor to convert it back if I had all the stuff. I think they order parts from twobits.com, so i'm sure he could get the chips for me too, but i bet then he'd jack up the price when he sold them to me. And i actually played it and the controls seem good and everything, slight burn-in, but for a pac game, not bad at all, i've seen way worse.
It's funny, when i told him i wanted him to convert it back, he looked at me like i was crazy. He said "ms. pac is way more valuable than original pacman" Which may be true, but i bet an original dedicated pacman is worth more than a Ms. Pac in a Pac cab.

$50!!!???
-
That's not a bad idea...maybe that's what we should end up doing. I'm not going to be able to buy it for about a month, but i'm thinking i will. I want to go down there one more time and really go over the game with a fine toothed comb and make sure the monitor and powersupply and everything looks to be in decent condition. I just got burned buying a Ms. Pac and having to replace the monitor and powersupply...costed me about another 500 bucks.
Here's the problem...the tech said he'd do it for about 50 bucks. You are going to charge me 25.00 plus at least 12 dollars shipping and another few bucks to buy shipping material. In the end, i'm not saving that much, maybe 10 bucks. To me, it's not worth it, i'd rather just have the tech do it on site. However, if you would be willing to upgrade my board for free, i'll let you keep the Ms. Pac daughter board. I don't mean to insinuate that your time is not valuable or anything, but strictly monitarily speaking, in my case, it doesn't really seem worthwhile to do this if you charge me.

I thought you meant he was going to charge you $50, if you had the parts. That would still be the same price for the chips, so you would be saving about $25-35.
Let me know when you buy it.

OK, sounds good! I suppose i should definately get the game first before we go too much further. Thanks for your assistance, i'm sure i'll be talking to you again in the future :)
