Title: Too much red.. Way too much!
Post by: clanggedin on April 11, 2005, 10:59:28 pm
I have another problem with my POW cab. I fixed the no blue problem. It ended up being a loose cable. Now this problem didn't start until I was just letting the game run in attract mode. The whole screen began having a bright red hue to it with red lines the stretch horizontally through the screen. I can still see the game running, but there is now there is lots of red. Adjusting the pots on the back of the monitor have no effect. Do I have a bad solder joint or cap??

I haven't installed a cap kit on it yet. It is a WG 19K7607.

You have a "heater to cathode" short inside the neck of the picture tube. Sometimes connecting it to a picture tube rejuvenator (a piece of test equipment sometimes called a 'restorer-analyzer') can blast the short out and fix it. Randy Fromm's website has a tech section detailing a homemade fix for this problem.

Mine does it intermittently it seems, but enough for me to try repair provided at Randy Fromm's site.
