Post by: robinson.paul on April 10, 2005, 08:20:51 am
Hi all,

I am building a ms pacman cocktail cab, I am having problems with resolution on a happ controls 19" vision pro hybrid monitor
want to run mame in dos with arcadeos as my front end. I am using a voodoo 3 3000 video card,
windows is ok at 640 x 480 but need settings for games to run in their native resolutions, looked at advmame looks too complicated to setup would an ultimarc arcadevga card do the trick????.

Cheers in advance for any help you can supply

Yes the card would simplify your life quite a bit to do what you are looking to do.

Which monitor do you have???

If it's the 31.5k Vision pro, the avga will not work with it.

You need to use 640x480 res for all your games with hwstrech enabled.

cheers for your speedy replies

it is not a 15khz monitor it only goes down to 31khz 60hz - 640 x 480 res
so it looks like it is to be 640 x 480 with h/stretch

cheers again
;-)

You can create custom resolutions with your 31KHz monitor with advmame or powerstrip. Just double the games native resolution and turn on scanlines if you like them.

Look at the comparison between 15Khz and 31KHz on this page (http://www.retroblast.com/reviews/avga2.html)
