Doesn't it have to be ground or polished - kinda like glasses are made?

Perhaps that's what makes it so expensive.  I thought they were convex (concave?  I can never remember the difference ::) )

I heard that SEGA still sells the concave black mirror for the old laserdisc Time Traveler game for $20,000...You can get the whole game at auction for less than $1k, though.
