Title: Cold solder joint... where?
Post by: APFelon on April 07, 2005, 08:48:00 pm
I'm looking at a G07 that I recently did a capkit in. The problem is that the right side of the monitor is fine, but the left side is faded out (washed out). I either have a bad cap somewhere, nuked a trace or have a cold solder joint somewhere. Anyone know what cap could cause something like this?

I had a problem with a bad neckboard causing the same problem.

Try reseating the neck board.

Sometimes you need to manually degauss the picture tube after doing a capkit or moving the monitor.

When you put the chassis back in after doing the capkit did you remember to plug the automatic degausser back in?

Yeah, I made sure everything was in properly, and I have never seen a monitor display something like this before...

I'll post some pics sometime this evening, perhaps I didn't describe it properly.

AND I'll reexamine the neckboard mount. Thanks for the tips, guys!
