Yeah, I know this is like, the 3,000,000th thread I've started asking about joysticks or buttons or something, but I the FAQ didn't have any comments on the quality of the Happs Universal joystick, and that's the current joystick I'm curiouse about. The Happs Super Joystick looks like it could be a decent fit for my project, but it's missing a few things. Namely, 8 way to 4 way switchability, and although it may seem trivial to some, the super has no restrictor plate to hide the seam between the stick and the control panel, and the universal does (albiet a square one). But there's the big question: is the universal joystick any good? If it's a piece of crap, I could care less if it has 4/8 switchability and a restrictor plate. Has anyone had any experience with it?

I own an Ultimarc E-Stik, and can very surely say it's great, if you don't mind the plate moving around a bit...
If you're wandering how is that related - as far as i know, the E-Stik is almost identical to the universal, just that it comes in blue too...

OK. So far it's looking quite promising. I guess that would mean it's more or less the Happs equivelent of the E-Stick then, huh? I'm having trouble finding reviews for it (Retro Blast hasn't reviewed it), and I hope it's a good stick, because it looks like it has the features I want and I can get it at a price that's good, so if anyone else has anything to say about it I'd like to hear it! :)

Actually, the E-Stik is more like the Ultimarc equivalent of Happs Universal... The universal was first, then came E-Stik, which is basically the same universal design that IL makes with an additional "twisting" 4/8 way switch mechanism...
At least that's what i understood...

VISIT RETROBLAST!!!!!!
i'm not mad or anything, but there is plenty of information out there on the things you ask about. Kevin is also a very good judge of arcade equipment. most of the time.

Retroblast has a review for the E-Stick, but not the Universal Joystick. Reviews for the latter seem a tad sparse.

they are the exact same thing. serious. nothing is different but the name. they probably even have the same company marks, but i'm unsure of that since i've never had one.
