Title: Mine not finished
Post by: psik0tik on April 07, 2005, 02:15:16 pm
Its not finished yet but heres a pic of progress. The side art is gonna be made of all lexan with leds to light it up to give it that pop out look. Mabye like a flame or tron theme I dunno yet. And Im waiting on my marquee from the printer. Its a AMD 3200+, Geforce 5, 1gb ram and 27" tv.  And it runs Gamex frontend.  The crappy cp overlay is very temporary...waiting on that from printer too.

I have an idea to share don't know if it belongs in here or if its already been done...I took a big sheet of lexan 4 foot by 6 foot i think and cut a flame job in it.  (basiclly looks like a big flame) I drilled  1/8 in holes all along the bottom of it prolly about 4 inches apart. Then hot glued in red and orange leds. When they were in I covered up the leds with marquee retainer . I took my side art  (which was made to the size of the flame) and attached it like a window sticker so the graphics faced out and cut the excess off. . I screwed the whole thing to the side of my arcade. And now I flip a switch and I have Glowing sideart. As soon as my freind brings his camera over Ill take pics. Ive done both sides and Im working on a piece of lexan for the CP.

Sounds cool Psik!  I'd like to see some pics of that all lit up.  It's cool to see some PC case-modding techniques begin to show up on people's arcade projects.

Sorry for slackin on the pics...The plexi thing is going crappy 1/4 lexan isnt the easiest thing to drill on the side and sheets that big can get expensive. What Ive been looking into is fiber optics so i can light up everything from one light source and have everything switch on from one switch I posted the link in a forum post http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,35222.msg306955.html#msg306955

This stuffs cheap and has alot of possibilties. And ill be able to light the side panels up alot easier with it. I ordered about 10 feet of side glow and 50 of end glow. The light source is the expensive part liek 100 bucks or so so hopefully this all works out. Id love to light up the track ball and coin slots etc from one light source. Also the light source I bough is led which means !!no heat!!. And Ill get on the pics tommorrow.
