Hey guys.. I'm running Daphne under XP SP2 with a Radeon 8500 AGP card.
The problem is.. is that unless I turn off Hardware Acceleration on my radeon card.. the emulator won't run.. It crashes after the second 'beep'.
This is a problem.. because I've got Daphne running in my cabinet in a multi-emulator setting. If I disable hardware accel .. it really messes up a lot of my other emulators.
Is there a known fix for this?! Is there a utility that will automatically disable hardware acceleration on my card upon running of Daphne (and enable it upon exit?)
Any help would be appreciated guys. I'd really like to figure this out!
Thanks!

Why turn off the acceleration in the first place?
-
Sorry, I didn't make myself clear.
Daphne crashes when Hardware Acceleration is on with my Radeon 8500.
Turning it off is the only way to get Daphne to work. (far from ideal)

Ahhhhhhhh I C
I read it completely wrong.
A sure sign that sleep is not just a thing to kill time with. :)
About the problem...
I dunno.
Are you using the latest drivers from ATI?
If not, you may want to give that a shot. Many an odd thing can be fixed by simply running the latest drivers.
-
Yes, the latest drivers are being used. I've tried the latest Catalyst drivers and the latest Omega drivers.

I just opened up Daphne 0.99.6 Win32, and noticed it has an option to turn off hardware acceleration under the Advanced menu.
-
Yes, I tried this as well. It didn't seem to make a difference. It seems the actual hardware acceleration of the card needs to be turned off in dxdiag.
I had high hopes that this would have workeD!
Thanks for the suggestion though!

hmmmmmm
I have an 8500LE, and it is working fine for me.
I am using whatever drivers are built into XP SP2 for it.
I guess it could be a difference between the 8500 and the LE though.
-
I'm pretty sure I'm using the LE as well..
Hmm.. Maybe I need to try some more drivers.
I'll probably figure it out eventually.
Thanks!

Use "nohwaccell" or whatever the command is in the command line when you launch the game...
Use daphne loader to set it up, then check the log to get the correct command line...
Hope this might help...

Thanks, Surf. I've tried that.. with no success. It has to be turned off in directx for it not to crash.

Hmm, my Radeon 9700 gave me the same trouble, but that worked for me...
Sorry, no help.

Thanks everyone!
Turning of the Hardware acceleration DID work after all. I initially just tried turning off the hardware acceleration in the *prefs.ini file. That didn't work.. because, as soon as you use any command line options in daphne, it completely disregards the *prefs.ini file. So, it HAS to be a part of the command line...
Good to know!
Thanks guys!
