Title: animated gif help / Post # 800
Post by: Shape D. on April 06, 2005, 01:31:12 pm
I've got an animated gif in an email that I want to use as an avatar, but I have no clue how to save it to my HD. any time I try it saves a single image of the gif. thus making it not possible to upload more than just the single pic. anyone know how to do this?

Yaaaayyyyyy......... Post number 800. I'm celebrating tonite by eating 800 strips of bacon.

I'm guessing that it is saving the entire gif, but that the board software is dumbing it down.

when I open it on my pc though it only shows up as a single image too.

(I'm really stupid though when it comes to this kind of stuff.)

<edit>No, its saved to my pc right. I emailed it to myself and it showed up animated. Im guessing the only way to do it is to hotlink it then.<edit>

What are you opening it with?  A lot of programs will just display the first frame.

Try opening it in internet explorer.  It will be animated if it saved right, which I think it probably did.

MS Paint doesn't have any animation utilities, so you won't see the animation.

If you have a larger image that you need to resize, there are utilities available.  Heck, there are some web-based utilities available.  I did it with my Superman avatar way back when.  I forget what the site was that I used, though.

Yes.  You must e-mail it to me, I'll make it animated for you, and send it back to you.

It's my board name AT gmail DOT com.
