Title: Playing Star Wars With Analog Joystick
Post by: Skippy2k on April 03, 2005, 04:34:35 pm
I am trying to play star wars with my analog joystick but it seems when the stick is in the center the sight on screen is at the bottom left of the screen, this makes the game a little difficult and was wondering is it my joystick which needs calibrating in windows or an you calibrate it in mame.

Thanks

Calibrate it in Windows.  It will let you test it there to make sure everything is fine.

mine does this also... with a hydra yoke... But I removed the centering springs (because they where wrong... and none was better then wrong) and I thought that was the problem.

Anyone able to test it?  I would like to know if its a problem myself.

I calibrate star wars in mame by moving the stick in all directions.  Four or five full criss-crosses seems to bring it very close to center, but more is better.  After the first game, it seems pretty much centered.  (Can't test at work, but I'll bet rotations work as well as criss-crosses.)
