Been seriously researching building my own cabinet for a while now, want to make sure i have everything figured out before i start, but recently something came to mind. What do you guys have for an exit button for games? I have yet to see this mentioned anywhere. I was thinking the best thing would just be an arcade button like on the side or underneath somewhere. Any suggestions?

I think the answers fall into 3 categories:
(1) visible admin buttons on the CP
(2) hidden admin buttons
(3) shifted multi-controller functions. Like "To exit: while holding Joystick 1 down, press the player 2 button and rub your tummy"

thats what about everybody uses.

I have a "shift" button on the side of my control panel box, its on the I-Pac as P2 button 8, than I use that + one of the other buttons for admin. Its black so it blends in, on the side so dosn't get hit, and not used in play so no accidental exits :).

Previous cabinets have used every imaginable kind.
Current cabinets.
Cocktail. Has a microswitch behind the left coin return button on the coin door.
Big wooden cabinet. Has enter, tab and escape buttons on the panel. This panel was pre-drilled by a previous mamer, if I had done it myself then they wouldn't be there. This cabinet also has 2 pinball buttons on each side (also pre-drilled, I wouldn't have done those myself either), which I seem to fairly often remap as service switches, pause buttons, throttle and such.
Giagantor cocktail. I'll probably do the coin return switch trick again.

I don't have any admin buttons whatsoever.
P1 and P2 together (esc) with an Ipac are all I need.
They are near each other of course but have never once been accidently pressed even with little kids bashing away at games.
The nature of having a shift button makes esc harder to trigger as you need to momentarily press it before the other function.

I'll be hiding mine on the TOP, in recessed holes.
