Title: Monitor showing strange vertical expansion issue...
Post by: Insider on April 03, 2005, 03:26:52 pm
I'm running a mame cabinet with an arcade vga. I just had to replace my monitor, got one from a capcom game. Some res's are perfect others are... odd.

when I expand the monitor to full screen (such as puzzle bobble) the screen expands unevenly (example picture below from windows) in the upper third. Part is extra compressed and part is extra expanded (very top)

any thoughts? Is this monitor just no good? It shows perfectly in Capcom games....

Any help is appreciated!!

Ok.... learn something new every day.

The controller board on the monitor is a WG 25k7191. On it is a vertical adjustment pot that's "hidden" (faces up in the middle of the board). it adjusts the spread of the vertical spaces.... sorta anyway. If you adjust it carefully you will come to a sweet spot. If you adjust too far you will get the dreaded monitor curl at the bottom!

This board is a PITA. Between games like galaga and puzzle bobble, it seems to need vertical expansion/contraction no matter what I do.

If you can think of something let me know... it all used to work on my old monitor. *sigh*
