Hi All,
Sorry if this has been covered already but for some reason dvd2daph (V3) doesn't recognise my DL2 DVD-ROM . It has no problems with DL and Space Ace . Am I missing something ?
Thanks
Sammy

DVD2Ddaph does not do DL2.
You need to use Convvid2Daph for that.
http://www.convvid2daph.com/download.htm
I originally had problems using it, but found that if I set it to run in Win98/Me compatibility mode, it worked just fine.
-
OK , thanks for that .
Sammy
-
Well looks like Convvid2Daph doesn't work with DL2 DVD-ROM . Not to worry .
Sammy

Ahhhhhhh
Bummer. I hadn't noticed that.
I have the DVD-Video version that came in the 20th anniversary box set. Surely there is a way to get the dvd-rom version rippped to work though.
-
As far as I know Daphne doesn't support DL2. Hopefully someday...

Really?
DaphneX, the Xbox port of it, does.

It does in the unofficial CVS version. I'm still waiting for 0.99.7, though.

I see. Well that's good news since I have a DL2 DVD sitting around collecting dust.

Well, I've got the latest CVS release of Daphne, now, and the ROM.. And I've got the DL2 DVD-ROM from Digital Leisure.. But there seems to be NO way of using the video files from these!
DVD2DAPH3 will actually parse DL2 files.. But it looks like you need the Video DVD or possible the 20th Ann Ed for it to work?? *sigh*
Does anybody have ANY idea how to get the files from the DVD-ROM version to work? I'm at a loss. I dl'd them to my drive from the DVD manually and ran dvd2daph on them, but it only recognized a couple of the files :( Ugh.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated :)
THANX!

Just found this... try this to grab the files off your DVD-Rom-Video...
http://www.convvid2daph.com/index.htm
I'm downloading it and will try it tonight on my DVD-Video version.

See this thread for how to get DVD2DAPH3...

:)
Let us know how your tests go!

DVD2Daph doesn't do Dragon's Lair 2 at all, and Convvid2Daph only does the DVD-Video or CD-Rom versions.
Convvid2Daph does a great job of ripping the Draon's Lair 2 DVD-Video though. I have been playin the heck out of it on DaphneX.
-
ARGH!!
-
Can the DL2 DVD-Rom not just be installed and run?
I dunno how well they handled gameplay on the DVD-Roms, but the gameplay on the DVD-Video versions would be very acceptable (though not arcade perfect) if Daphne were not an option.
-
Holy crap.. it worked!
I knew there was some reason that I held onto that
DVD-Video version of it for so long! ;)
I'm missing the correct/incorrect 'beep' tones,
but it actually works... controls seem a bit touchy,
where you want to move towards the 'end' of the flashes,
but it actually works...
(sorry jfunk... yes, cant you just play the game off the DVD Rom?
the 20th anniversary should be very close to original? -dont know.. dont have it)

Versapak,
Do the 'beeps' work on XBox?
I dont want to put it on my box, but just wondering if maybe this
is some kinda glitch by using it on the PC....
Thanks

If you are using it with DaphneX, then it has the beep & buzzer sounds.
If you are playing it with regular DVD-Video software, then you have visual cues in the bottom right corner. Yellow = Correct Action / Blue = Wrong Action
In DaphneX, the beep & buzzer sounds are something you can set the volume of in the games settings. I imagine such is the case on the PC version as well. You may want to go check the settings, and make sure the sound is actually turned on/up.

I can't get it running on XP SP2... And that's all I have on all 3 of my computers :(
I get a couple of weird errors and then all of the decoder options are blank..? I'll do some more research on it, though...
It's not the 20th Ann Ed... It's from the 3-pack...
Thanx.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Daphne devs don't allow talk about Dragon's Lair 2 and the main dev announced his marriage last year and hasn't spoken much since. And the last version was released in 2003!
You can download the CVS version here:
http://web.tiscali.it/dukesofhazzard/daphne.htm
I mirrored it on my site, just in case:
http://www.singleclick.com/~jelwell/arcade/daphne.zip
I didn't compile this one myself. Here's how to get the source:

Joseph Elwell.
Thanks a lot for the links Joseph. I remember browsing the boards and seeing some posts about DaphneCVS supporting Dragon's Lair 2 and then the mods stepping in and stopping the discussion. I didn't even understand what the CVS stood for (still don't), much less where to actually get the files. I felt pretty gipped, since I bought the CD rom set from Digital Leisure with all three games and originally ran it under a WindowsME partition. I partitioned the harddrive practically just for this game. However, the play and options were very limited. I figured my purchase of unsupported software at today's prices entitled me to have these games in original quality. Digital Leisure really shouldn't distribute pixelated versions of those great games. Now it's great to play this game again without having to partition the harddrive on my new machine (especially not to WindowsME--echh).

Yeah, I think I'm missing the beeps as well. Must playtest more. Post if you find a solution, daveg2000.

By the way, Jfunk, I have the 3-pack CD-Rom but I didn't use that, too pixelated IMO. So I can't help you with that one. Good luck.

@jfunk
As you can see from my original post we both have the same problem . However , I have managed to get my Dragon' Lair 2 DVD-ROM to work with WinXP SP2 . The strange error you get when you insert the disc (Regopenkey) is due to a compatibility issue .
In order to get it to work you'll need to download and run the .exe's in Win95 compatibility mode . For some reason the Dragon's Lair program (dldvd2.exe) bombs out on my system after 4 or 5 screens but Dragon's Lair 2 DVD-ROM seems to work OK (so far) .
You need to download
-
Thanx! I'll give that a shot!!
-
No go.. I still get the error:
Error: Unable to open key, RegOpenKey=2, Line=565
However, I now get 'DirectShow' in my list of MPEG2 drivers.. I hit play, select the direct show driver, and get
Dragon's Lair Error
DirectShow not functioning. Try selecting a different MPEG2 driver using Options on the Dragon's Lair Startup menu.
*sigh* Thanx, though.
-
They ended up advising me to use "Daphne"
LOL
Good to know they approve. :D
jfunk... That is a real bummer.
Interesting that it used to be the DVD-Rom versions that were recommended you buy.
-
Do you have WinDVD loaded ?? I had to load that first .
Sammy
-
I don't. I'll do that, too :)
-
Whooohoo! WinDVD worked.. Where did you find that tidbit of info? Was there a troubleshooting doc I missed?
Would still love to get it working in Daphne so that it's playable through a frontend like the others, but at least I can play it now!!
Thanx!
-
No problem . It's in the Digital Leisure Support/FAQs somewhere . Let me know how you get on with Dragon's Lair . Mine's crashes after the 4th or 5th screen .

There is no option for volume of the .wav files (the beep noises)
Just the main volume affects the video playback audio.
I tried renaming some of the .wav beep files and Daphne didnt
like it and would not start.
So, daphne is recognizing the .wav files ARE there.. and If I click one
one and play it in Media Player, it does play just fine....
It is like the volume is muted for the beep noises in Daphne...
I'll try to post a question on the daphne board with out making
it look like im using the CSVversion of Daphne... I know they
wont answer questions unless its the 'official' daphne build.... ;)

Did you not get DL working through Daphne? Once I had it working, I stopped messing with the Digital Leisure discs... Just used it through Daphne, which I like better...
-
No , it works fine in Daphne . I meant using the Digital Leisure program . It's no big deal , I was just curious .

Boy, Do I feel like a schmuck....
I remember back in my day, I could beat DL II on 2 quarters.
I had it down to a 'T'.
Now.. I've just been playing for about 90 minutes and I'm only 1/2 way thru Beethoven Scene.... AAhhhh!!!
What .... is.... happening..... to .... me..............?
