I updated my mame to buddabing's version and everything was working fine, but now a couple of games, maybe more aren't working nor their clones, et : Joust, Robotron.....do I need to
update the rom set and if so how do I do that.

it comes up quck but looks like it is saying decoder.4 and decoder.6 missing...

Just went back to my older version .91 I think and all is well, except back to the galaga emu screen, lol

I tried .95 before my computer went south. IIRC Galaga still had the message, didn't it?

Yeh, .95 still had the error, but I was using Buddabing's compile which had the error messages turned off, I live the with the "wiggle the stick" to make it go :P
BTW....it was .88 version I was running and still running

When changing MAME versions it's always advisable to audit your files to see if things have been changed.
My personal favourite ROM auditor/manager is ClrMAMEPro
