I know that this has been asked millions of times, but which do you find better for 8-way games?

They both have different niches.

Seems unlikely that you'll get a huge number of votes for the comps. Most of the users here (myself included) seem to prefer Supers.

been said before, but comps are great for fighters, although I have only tried the X-Arcade version of the supers from the DIY kit, as I believe I read that they are.  Oh well, correct me if I'm wrong.  For other 8-way games, I don't see many differences.

What kind of 8-way games?  Probably fighters more than anything else.
