Title: how come they dont make top fire sticks like these anymore?
Post by: Hoagie_one on March 31, 2005, 09:31:23 am
Like the tron cocktail controls (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=6167331733&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT)

I'd much rather hvae one that looks like this that a normal topfire.....but dont want to spend upwards of $60 to get one.

That one has microswitches.  Did the Tron cocktail tables have joysticks with microswitches?  The regular tron handle for upright cabinets has leaf switches just like the original Pacman joysticks.

That guy (or at least that exact picture of Tron cocktail sticks) has been selling those for $55 a piece for years.  I wonder where he gets them.

I too would love to see somebody in the manufacturing side of this hobby reproduce/redesign some of these!

Just the idea of a trigger ball-top 4/8-way topside-switchable stick makes me all wobbly.

I'd pay $20-$30 for a new stick, but $55 used is mildly ridiculous.

Good to see other people out there who want a decent top fire joystick, I can't stand the ones from Happs, I have two that are just sitting in a box right now, SOMEONE please make some nice top fire joysticks, my control box begs you.  I wish the T-Stick plus would come out with a top fire version (hint, hint), Or maybe some like the old wico joysticks that I used to use with my atari 2600 and colecovision.

You would think there would be a big demand for these, but I have not seen it.

I remember RandyT saying that one of his joysticks (and I cant remember which) had a hollow shaft that would be perfect for adding a top fire button.. I also remember a thread where somebody adapted an old atari/C64 wico top fire joystick to work with a Wico joystick base.  Looks to me like those Tron cocktail sticks are just modified Pacman joysticks with different handles..  I'm sure with all the talented folks around here somebody could come up with something fairly easily.

RandyT sells two kinds of Topfire sticks. I have a Prodigy Topfire and love it. I use it for Tron and any single button game when I have a beer in the other hand.

You are wrong.  ;D
I was selling Wico red ball-tops with top fire buttons. Had 72 sticks only. Sold all but 6.

Anyone have the dimensions on this stick?  Or better yet, would anyone be willing to loan me a stick assembly?  I'm considering making some reproductions of these, and I would like to get a mold made up..

Later,

Since you sold all but 6, do you still have a couple for sell?

Sorry, I guess I should be more specific when I mention this.
No, I kept the 6 for personal use. I might sell 2 on Ebay.
