Title: WTB: Jamma Cab 20+ monitor in Ohio
Post by: Squeeky on March 30, 2005, 06:17:59 pm
Well I'm new to the home arcade and looking to get started.  I've already talked with a couple members on the forum about getting equipment.  I just wanted to make a post now before I purchase.

I'm looking to purchase a cabinet with a 21-25" monitor, Jamma ready.  I plan on building a MAME cab, and also start a PCB collection.  Gotta keep it classic.  I've been to several auctions in ohio lately I think they have been over-rated unless your buying parts.

Currently looking into getting a 20" monitor and beat up cab for $75 plus travel and finding someone with a truck  ;D.  If anyone has any recommendations please let me know or if your selling any cabs etc.  I don't mind spending a little more for a larger cab and monitor.  At least I'd like to be able to have a 2 player 6-button each fit comfortably.  I don't mind doing the wiring and purchasing the controls.  I find that kinda thing fun.  Let me know by PM or e-mail Squeeky4711@earthlink.net.  I'd also be willing to trade if anyone is interested in DIY projector parts, or an Onkyo Home Audio receiver.  See www.lumenlab.com for projector info.

Thanks
Squeeky

20" models are almost non-existant in the US. Standard US monitor sizes are 13", 19", 25", and 27".

There were also 15" and 23" ones, but they aren't color and haven't been made for decades.

As far as I know Sega is the only company that ever used 20" monitors. I have one in the basement, it doesn't look any bigger than the 19" ones stacked all around it.

Well then it is a good thing I ask.  Lets just say 21in or larger.  I might even go 19" if everything else is in great shape.  Thanks for the quick reply.

Essentially your choices are 19" or 25". For all practical purposes there are no arcade monitors between those two sizes, which was what I was trying to explain.

19" cabinets are the normal classic sized cabinets. 25" are the big "Mortal Kombat" and X-Men sized cabinets.

27" cabinets are the NEWEST ones, like stuff made in the past 5 years.

Good luck on your hunt.

Oh, that's about 3.5 hours from here.  I live in Charleston, WV.  Anyway, if you don't mind driving this distance for a cab, let me know.
