OMFG I hate her van!
It all started shortly after she got her tax returns back this year...
Her "friend" decided that she wanted a new vehicle and not to try and fix this van so she said "hey, I'll sell it to ya for $400" A couple days later, her boyfriend found out that it was just one of the battery terminals not fully connected so they upped the price to $800!
We've now had the van for a couple months and we're in the process of trying to get it to pass inspection. The weekend before last we replaced the rear shocks, 2 hours $40. Last weekend we replaced the muffler which took like 6 hours and 5 trips to VIP. Sometime in the near future we have to replace the rack and pinion which is going to take at least 8 hours or so and $120, if the old one is in good enough condition to get rebuilt, if it's not $240 for the r&p!
OK, so as for what pissed me off enough today which is why I started this whole vent thing...
I farking broke the windshield! The jets that squirt washer fluid on the windshield seem to be dissconected so I tried to fix that. In order to get to where they are supposed to be connected you have to remove the wipers completely. So I take the nuts off the wiper arms and try to remove them, no luck. I'm there prying and pulling, it won't budge... Then all of a sudden when I'm trying to pry it loose the windshield cracks! Apparently it goes under the black plastic part a bit further than I had thought. :'(
I wish I could just get rid of it, but there's no way I could do so without loosing like $500!
AAAAAAHHHHHHHHRRRGGGG!!!!! >:(

Oooooh yea, $100 for 6 months of registration/plates/title and $40 for inspection which it hasn't passed yet.

You bought the thing even after they upped the price on you?
-
It wasn't my money nor my choice...

Shocks can be replaced for only $40 and a couple of hours work? I need new shocks in my car, but go out of my way to know nothing about cars. I just assumed it would be really expensive.

Does this mean I can impress you by telling you I can do the brakes on all 4 wheels of your car for under $100?
shmokes, c'mon. You can't be troubled to remove 4 bolts and put them back together?

Most people buy vehicles on condition they be "safety inspected" first... Wha happen?
-
I've done brakes once. I'm sure I could be troubled to do the shocks if I knew that it was as easy as pulling the wheel off and five minutes later....voila!

Shocks are pretty darn easy. I'm sure it would have taken us less time if we had more tools and a car in less dissrepair.
Struts on the other hand are a bit harder... You'll have to rent tools and crap to compress the springs which can be dangerous if done wrong. They're still very doable to someone who's good at following dirrections and has the tear down book to their vehicle.
