Just wanted to point out that this is a pretty good deal, $199 up front, $129 after rebate, and it ends tomorrow: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1279020&Tab=5

tiger direct rebates are nortoriously bad. As long as you thnk of this as $199, your good.
-
Oh yeah? You mean the manufacturer won't honor them? Tell me more.
-
I can tell you I ordered a barebone system from them once, and they ended up screwing me out of $80 of rebates they never sent me.
-
Was it the same kind of deal, where you go to onrebate.com, print out the forms and mail them in?
-
judge for yourself. good company for products adn shipping, but the horror stories about rebates....

In general a frugal shopper ignores rebates when comparing prices.
Think of rebates as a "bonus" not a discount on the price. You're better off buying the cheapest item available at the cash register price and assume you won't get the rebate.
Remember, rebates are designed to not work. If they were designed to work they'd just give you the money off at the register.

Thanks for the heads up, y'all! I have bought from TigerDirect before with no problems, but never knew of the shady rebate aspect. Forewarned is forearmed, etc..

I bought a Soyo barebones from Tiger a while back, in response to a deal posted in these forums. It had three rebates, two from Soyo and one from tiger through onrebate.com. The one from onrebate.com came, the two from Soyo never did.
