Title: Model 2 Emulator & Top Skater.
Post by: jelwell on March 30, 2005, 01:52:54 pm
I'm looking to build a Top Skater upright. I've got a skateboard and everything!

Anyways, I downloaded the Model 2 emulator since Top Skater is unplayable in mame. The loading screens for Top Skater show up just fine, but then the game says to step on the skateboard and hit start to begin.

I've tried mapping all the buttons and controls available in the emulator to known keys on my control panel but I just can't seem to figure out how to "step on the skateboard".

Any ideas?

I had never used the emulator, however, I tried it out, and it appears that El Semi's config controls option doesn't work with topskater- I used the default configs, went into service mode, and tested them vs. the Input Mode Option, and the only thing that worked was the Player 1 Button 1, which responded as Tail up/down (not real sure now).  Maybe there's a work-around, or try the other version of the emulator.   ??? ???

CORRECTION-YOU CAN USE A MODEL 2 EMULATOR AND IT WILL WORK

Drop back to the Nebula Model 2 Emulator, not the new one, but its predecessor- using the default controls, I was able to play the game, however it is somewhat choppy and there are the expected polygon dissapearances, etc. but you can play it

I have a follow-up question to your response...when you say, drop back and not the new one but it's predecessor, which version are you talking about?

On the CAESAR site or however you spell it you can check out the model 2 emulator, and one of the options says predecessor
heres the link:

go down to the section that says download and use that emulator
