Title: QuasiCon new pricing info
Post by: dema on March 29, 2005, 12:30:39 pm
Okay, I just received a call from one of the guys at Quasimoto and unlike the prior figure given for the QuasiCon it looks like the control panel will cost $399.00 + shipping. While it's still a little pricey, it is much better than the amount we were told earlier.

Are you sure about this? They just emailed me that it still costs 599 dollar.

I got that information over the phone from one of their guys in sales. That is the price they gave me.

It's still pretty overpriced IMO.

I've actually played it in person at a local game room & billiards retailer. I'm sad to say it needs some work. I didn't like the layout at all and if I were to buy it I'd pretty much be doing so for the analog controls. Maybe it's just me, but for it to be functional you'd need to remove the controls and rearrange them on a new panel. Right now things just don't feel right to me.

Someone should get them to sell individual controls and the "analog/digital-consoles-'n'-pc-all-in-one-interface-board-thing"!
(i was tempted to add GO GO GAMING GAMER SUPER FUN AWESOME WILD PLAYER PLAYING ULTRA EXTRA FUN FUN interface board... lol...)

It should be sweet for those making console cabinets...
I know i would definitely purchase them for a console CP for my cab...
(if the price was right, that is...)

EDIT: spelling...

The company said they have no intention of going that route at this time.

My point exactly!  :)

Someone just needs to ask them where they sourced the analog sticks...hooking them up to a hacked dual shock pad shouldn't be a problem.

That's the thing, they claim to have got them on a custom production line or something... I remember someone (lilwolf? - if that's how he spells it...) asked them and they said they make 'em themselves...

EDIT: Oh, and you forgot the analog/digital buttons...

The layout is my major problem with it too. Looks like a big mess to me. If I bought one I'd have to gut it and build a new enclosure with a better layout from scratch.

Seems like this person has another source, this same guy sold one a while back for $295/free shipping

  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=13716&item=6168276278

This one is listed as "refurb, minor cosmetic issues" starting at $195/$30 shipping.  Might be worth buying for hacking purposes.

Makes me wonder if this guy has factory connections seeing as he sells new for $295 shipped.

ARCADIAC!

I've been watching those for a while and thought about it.  The only thing that's stopped me from buying it is not knowing if it's the panel that has the damage (which I would scrap anyway) or if it's the joystick/buttons that does.
