Title: New dell in my cabinet
Post by: xtremediver on March 28, 2005, 05:50:47 pm
Ok, Here is my problem. I just purchased a new dell 8400 3.6ghz. I use the ke72 keyboard encoder and I'm unable to get the sample.cfg installed. It seems as if I have to have the keyboard itself in the port or I get a keyboard failure. So does anyone know how I can get this to work. The 2nd problem I have is I also use daphne emulator and as it starts up it just kicks me back to the desktop. Right now I'm thinking of sending the cpu back to dell and going back to my other cpu that worked but was a bit on the slow side.

The encoder can only be programmed through the serial port in windows XP.

I used a win/98 boot disk with my other cpu that had xp on it and it worked just fine. I'm unable to use it with this newer version though. After reading some more of the doc. that came with it the keyboard has to be plugged directly into the cpu. I then thought about reformatting the drive and installing an earlier version of xp but I cannot even do that on this version. I thought with the boot disk I could then format c: but it came back that there is no c: drive. totally confused on this new cpu. sending it back and will just build one.
