Title: FoxBlocker cable filter blocks only FoxNEWS Network
Post by: shmokes on March 28, 2005, 12:34:48 pm
OMG.....so classic.

This $9 device screws in-line to your cable TV service and filters just the FoxNews Network.  The company also sends it's customers' names in an email to Fox's advertisers in a show of hatred for the conservative news network.

I laugh.  And I laugh.

P.S. All you hate mailers out there (750 or so today) quit sending me "CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NPR and the BBC are left wing liberal hippies......." without EVIDENCE. If you are going to send it, send it with FACTS. Just saying it makes you sound like the stupid, ignorant, uneducated hillbilly you are.

Great.

This is essentially a material way to demonstrate a boycott of Fox News. As Shmokes mentioned, with every purchase, the company sends an email to the top 10 (I believe) advertisers on Fox. Sure it's not effective if only a couple of hundred people buy one, but I'm going to assume this guy is getting a buttload of sales in lieu of all the press he's been getting. I've seem on CNN, MSNBC, etc...and it's ALL over the web.

I'm thinking of buying a couple myself. I think it'd be a hoot to sneak on of these on TV's in the public arena (hospitals, bars, etc), it'd be like a community service. And it's great culture-jamming.

More on the inventor:
"Formerly a registered Republican, even a precinct captain, Kimery became an independent in the 1990s when he said the state party stopped taking input from its everyday members."

HAHA!

Forcing your political views on the public.
Didn't Dave Mathews do that to a boat on the Chicago river with their bus, while they were on tour for the Kerry campaign?

Actually it's the act of stopping Fox News from forcing their political views on the public. Fox is to "news" as "fair and balanced" is to Fox.

Why would you want to block the only news channel that isn't afraid to show the successes of the USA along with the failures?

BTW it was a rhetorical question.  No response is required because I already know exactly why you want it blocked.  :)

Yeah, I just noticed that.  That's why I hate mystery subject lines.  I don't think the subject line's purpose is to build suspense.  It's to give people an idea of what the subject of the thread will be.

c'est la vie.
