I have one. The amount of stretch will also be a factor. I can take it off and measure it for you.
But before you go throught the trouble. I thought someone on the net was selling repos of these. You might want to search around before spending time/money on them.

i'm very interested in what your trying to do, but i think you need to get your hands on a real spider before you go and make one.
first, the little holes on the spider have metal in them to ease the bending action it makes.
also, you'd want to make two different center hole sizes for the williams and happ spiders your looking to make. if you just went to stretching out the holes, the spiders wont last as long as they could.
lastly, i'd just like to repeat that you should just get your hands on a stick so that you can see what you need to design.
i hope this goes well, cause i'm already lookin at those tron sticks and handles but can't justify getting a happ without more support.

FWIW, this guy seems to think that the Wizz's Workshop repros are a little stiff compared to the originals...don't know if that's good or bad...
Need a replacement Joystick Centering Spider? Only $11. Go to Wizzes Workshop. These replacement spiders are a bit stronger than the originals, and you get quite a workout trying to move the joystick. I would recommend buying a couple and using a razor to shave off some of the material to better match the stretch factor of the original.

I have ordered the repro spider. I think if it's stiffer, it should work nicely given the extra leverage you get with the Tron stick.
The guy who makes the repros says that the rubber is normally used for car engine mounts, and he's been using them without any problems even without the metal inserts. It's supposed to be much stronger than the original rubber.
Anyway, I will do some prototyping and testing, but I need to get dimensions in order to put together a design and get some basic pricing info.

Distance from center of center hole to center of outer hole = 1 7/8"
This dimension is the same for all four arms.
Thickness= 1/4"
The rubber arms are not a uniform thickness from top to bottom..
They are a hair under 3/16" thick at the top, and 1/8" thick at the bottom.

Thanks! Can you tell me the diameter of the holes as well?
Well, I'm assuming that dimension may be in a "relaxed" state. I guess I still need confirmation on the positions of the holes on the mounting plate (I'll need to make a custom plate for the Happ sticks...Lilwolf?)

Spacing between the outer mounts on the joystick = 3 29/32" center to center.
The mounting shafts appear to be a hair over 1/8" and the metal bushings in the spider seem to have a thru hole size of 5/32"

This might sound dumb, but will your refit kit work with non-49 way Happ sticks? I would be interested in seeing what the spider could do for their cheapo fighter sticks.

Sorry, at work.. Didn't get back to the thread until now.
What dimensions do you still need? Mine is currently mounted, but its in a hotswap control panel so its VERY easy to get to. But not super easy to take off.
Mine is pretty old but seems to be in great shape. I'm not sure the differences between mine and that NOS one. But let me know exactly what you want to see in it.
But one thing to mention. These will NOT fit your extra big shaft (that oh so didn't come out right :o ).
Last.. If you have any real need to look at one in person (which is older and original) let me know. I could probably send one out for a bit. Just have to let me know in advance so I can get my sinister quota for the month overwith :)

Thanks, I think I have enough dimensions for now. I just need to get the repro spider so I can try to fit it to my tron shaft. May just need to drill it out a bit and put in a metal insert.

I wonder if attempting to enlarge the hole in the spider might not weaken it and make it prone to breakage. Maybe instead of trying to enlarge the hole in the spider, you could drill and tap a hole in the bottom of the shaft you're trying to mate it too, and then screw in a pin that's the appropriate size for the hole in the spider. I figure the metal of the shaft can handle a little drilling better than the rubber of the spider.

This won't work because the shaft is already hollow.

Most likely I will need a custom spider
If you do design a new spider, I know I want a spider to replace the lousy centering mechanism on on of these:

I wonder if there's a way to make a "Universal" spider? If the center hole is as big as the largest diameter joystick shaft on the market, you could just use interchangeable metal collars that fit in the hole to neck it down to the appropriate size for other sticks.
