I'm looking for an original Wico Leaf joystick. NICADE on ebay was selling these, but I do not see them on ebay anymore (of course, because now I need one).
I need one with a red ball top as I'm replacing an original stick in my Double Dragon machine.

do you need just the handle - and do you know what the wico assembly # was
-
I'll bet there are 50 of them on ebay right now, you just have to start looking at the control panel auctions. Roughly half of all 84-91 conversion control panels are going to have a pair of Wico sticks on them. The player one stick is often in poor shape, but the player 2 sticks are usually in excellent condition.

That looks like one there, albeit a 4-way one.

That one is probably a no-good cheapo knock-off. Wyluli, to ID the potentially bad non-wico ones, look for the metal angles with the switches bolted to them. The Wico's have switch holders molded into the base.
(this post modified in red text to prevent the perception that I am lecturing Paige. I am not qualified to do that, and I recognize that.) ;D

Wico made those as well. What do you think the knock offs were knock offs of?
BTW: For future reference, telling Paige what a Wico is is like telling Homer what a donut is. They just know.
OT: Anyone want to add to the analogy? Sounds like an Everything Else topic Telling Paige Oliver what a Wico is is like ......

Well... lets just say thatin the past I bought some "Wico" joys that Paige linked from EBAY and ended up with cheap junky knock-offs. They were the metal angle style in the pics.
I have a pile of wicos and a pile of these metal bracket ones, and all of the metal bracket ones I have are not wicos. I actaully wasn't pointing my comments at Paige, as there is no-one on Earth that appears to know more about Arcade stuff than him. It was more of a general bit of info.
My personal recommendation would be to avoid the metal angle style, as many (most?) of them are probably NOT wicos.

I have never actually had one of the metal bracket ones, so I am sorry if they suck. I have had round base ones like that without the metal brackets, and those were fine.
There are so many wico variations that even I have trouble keeping track of all of them.

It looks like nicade has them listed on eBay again:

It looks like the ones Nicade sells have longer handles than what I need. Here is a photo (of my player one wico joystick) with measurements of the joystick shaft. I need a red ball top wico (for the player two joystick) (with the rubber grommet and base etc...)
If anyone has an old one laying around, let me know how much you want for it shipped in the USA.
Thanks.

The 8 & 4-ways I bought from Nicade match those dimensions. I cannot speak for the auctions he has now though. You could just ask him to measure one. He is a super nice guy and I'm sure he would do that.
Then come back here and tell us what he said. Please ;)
Dave.
